I Like This Idea LMFAO

A dirt track is a sorely needed... but NASCAR would never do that because it might be too exciting for the fans (can't have that, after all, the drivers might complain that they have to drive the car)

The European F1 Stockcars run clockwise.

They could never run on a dirt track. The dirt might cover up a sponsor logo and you know we can't have that.

ARCA runs on dirt, they don't have any problems (not even dirt covering sponsor logos:lol2:)

Face it, this is the NASCAR the new fans want. Hell, look at kkfan, they can be single file during the entire race with not a single position change for 500 miles and he'd say it's a classic.

I also know a lot of young people who think, "short tracks are boring" (IDIOTS)

"Excuse me, I didn't hear you correctly, did you just say, short tracks are boring?" SMDH.

It would be on a track like Springfeild or DuQuion and would be packed down so much it would almost be like an paved track. Not really much sliding around, just normal racing. Now if they would run Super Lates like for the prelude it would be differnt.

Thats because they do not work the track, its packed down and has so much rubber its almost like an Paved track, might get a little dust, but no dirt or mud will fly. Its an super dry slick track.

I love dirt track racing so I'd be very happy if they raced on one. Speaking of KK where is he these days? I used to love short track racing but it seems that now they are all the same. Bristol has been ruined, Richmond sucks most of the time but Martinsville usually has some good racing. It's about the only short track left that I like.

i like the Derby idea ON DIRT OF COURSE then the Bushes and Harvicks can get after it

There is absolutely no dirt track in the country that could handle the demand. Facility wise or track wise. You thought Kentucky was a fiasco getting into? Try stuffing a crowd into DeQoiun for a Cup event.

And forget about a 43 car race on it, or anything more than 100 miles or so.

I've been saying that a dirt race on the 'Cup schedule is my #1 wish for years. Sacramento has a 1 mile track that could easily be expanded, and I'm sure there are other venues as well. The trouble is that there would have to be other high dollar events run on the same track to justify the cost. Ah well, I can dream, can't I?

I went to Daytona and then was on vacation in Orlando for the week.

The racing may suck, but you can fit 43 cars on a mile dirt track, might not see any passing, but you can start a full feild.

Yeah, sounds like fun! NOT. Danm, people complained about no passing at Kentucky. Now just add no passing to the cloud of dust that'll be created by 43 cars on the DuQoiun mile. Fiasco!

Have a couple 50 lap qualifying races to thin the field down to 25 or 30 cars. Of course, the start 'n parkers would probably do that anyway. :D

Churchill Downs could accommodate a NASCAR race.

That would actually be cool but those uppity freaks wouldn't allow it. I say cover Daytona, take off the restrictor plates and let them loose. Or since Bristol is total crap now cover that **** with some dirt.

Syracuse has a mile dirt track too, but I doubt they could expand it enough, but then again why should you? Let it fly and seat 40k for it, so what, at least it would be sold out!

Buy Pimlico and put the Maryland taxpayers out of their misery.

I'm surprised at all the responses in this thread from an article that was clearly written tongue in cheek.

I personally don't ever see NASCAR racing on dirt in my lifetime. I prefer sprint cars on dirt, anyways.

Churchill Downs could accommodate a NASCAR race.

You're kidding, right?

NASCAR on dirt, NASCAR in Kentucky (without the farce we saw on Saturday)... why not?

Yeah, definitely, why not? I just don't see it happening. I think you'd have to change the racing surface, and I'm not sure there exist any to accomodate both hoofs and rubber. I think Dover may have run cars on their horsetrack once before.

Churchill Downs only runs horse races twice a year, the Kentucky Derby and the Breeder's Cup. It CAN be done.

Will it happen? Not in my lifetime. But it can be done.

Actually they race Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sunday from the begining of April thru the end of July for their spring season then Thur, Fri, Sat and Sunday for their fall season which is October and November. They also have special events during the other times.
They just dont have the infrastructure for a automobile race anyway, no garages or support area no pit lane, wooden fences instead of concrete walls and softwalls.
Nascar has pretty much outgrown any capability of running a race like this their needs dictate the facilitys that can be run on.

Remember back in 2000-2001 when Bristol dumped clay on their track and ran WoO shows? The sprints where rockets around that place mid 13's but the racing itself wasn't all that great.

I'm not sure if the articles author, William Browning, is simply a fool or trying to be humorous. Either way epic failure IMO.

I guess if concrete walls are a requirement for any racetrack, those NASCAR drivers shouldn't come to Old Dominion in a few weeks:rolleyes:

Maybe NASCAR could split some of the 400 mile races up... say 250 miles -- competition caution (make everyone pit, four tires and fuel), then a random inversion for the final 150 miles... kind of like they used to do for the Winston Select and Busch Clash.

Let me rephrase that:

I'm surprised at all the responses from folks who actually would like to see NASCAR Cup cars on dirt, after reading a suggestion from an article that was clearly written tongue in cheek.

No one has seriously commented and considered the other "rule changes" the author of the blog proposes - spouse races, clockwise racing, demolition derbies, and robot crew members. Yes, indeed, LMFAO.

Yes, this is a forum. Keep those threads coming. Even these types. Don't let me discourage you. It's just the responses in this thread that keeps my head spinning.

Cup cars on dirt? I'm not opposed to it. I just don't see it happening.

I'll be on the lookout. Any thread with the words Kyle Busch is sure to incite some emotions.;)
