I LOVE NASCAR

If anyone was wondering why I love nascar, it would have to be best represented by the situation we have on our hands heading into Richmond this weekend...while richmond is one of my favorite tracks anyway, it seems that there is a lot of extra emphasis on it this year because of the points standings. Now, I don't even have my favorite driver eligible for the chase anymore, there are some I like up there, but none of them are my "favorites", but just being a fan of the sport allows me to appreciate the determination and dedication required to make it into the C4C, there are so many possible scenarios and outcomes that its going to be one hell of a race. While the C4C is definitely a big change, and I'm not sure if its for the better yet (I'll wait to see what the situation is with 5 races left) but the system is the system and there ain't no sense crying about something you can't change, so I've chosen to just enjoy the drama...anybody with me? Can anyone say that they aren't excited about the race this weekend? I'd say rating might go through the roof.

Excited about the race? Yes, but no more so than I would have been.

Excited about the fluff surrounding it and the artificial competition created? *insert sounds of crickets chirping here*

artificial competition? I guess I'm slightly unclear here...The Super Bowl wouldn't be the Super Bowl without the playoffs, right? If other sports did it the way NASCAR used to do it, then the team with the most points scored (not even most wins) would just get a trophy at the end of the year...hooray, no celebration for that. Just like the anticlimactic win for Kenseth last year..."Hell, let's pull out the back up and do some donuts!" be sure to wake me up later. This will make the competition a bit tighter, this is isn't the only "artifical competition" going on I guess, what with big threats like Morgan Shepherd, Hermie Sadler, and Kirk Shelmerdine running up front each week. If it was purely for competition, those cars would never be allowed on the track.

im still not a fan of the new points, nor will i ever be.

but 11 more races then nothing on tv tell feb! :(

Yes, artificial competition. Plus the "C4C" is from the department of redundancy department. This has been discussed to no end. The stick and ball sports put one opponent against another during the season. Not all teams face each other and the ones that do, have events in different locations/conditions than the rest of thier league. Motorsports put all opponents against each other each and every weekend. They are constantly in a "playoff" against each other from event one through event n, during the season.

...and artificial, in that the points are artificaially tightened up for the sake of "excitement" for those who whish to believe.
