I miss race weekends. I miss watching practice and qualifying. OMG.. I just spent about 2 hrs or more reading the archives when I was just looking for one particular thing and got caught up reading about different races. Now I can barely keep my eyes open and I haven't even checked my email!! HELP!!!!!!!! ROFL!!!

Well, there is testing coming up. I can't believe I'm excited to watch testing!!!!!! Hurry up Daytona!!!! Christmas is over, it's the new year and it's just plain COLD and snowy. Watching hockey makes me feel colder. LOL I'll watch a little football if my husband turned it on and it happens to be something interesting like whether NE would actually win last weekend.

But nothing..... I tell you, NOTHING... compares to the roar of engines... Ahhhh... maybe I should go to bed and I'll dream I'm at a race somewhere where it's warm. LOL :D

I love racing. But as long as '07 seemed to be, I'm in no hurry for '08. That might change in 5 weeks from now.

If you need a fix then download a good torrent app. I like uTorrent. Then go to the pirate bay or some other hosting site and do a search for Nascar videos and download them to start your own library.
I can't check here at work as to what might be on some of the free internet TV sites. I know there is one that has current TV shows and movies but I've never looked to what may be in their library for racing.
I use it to watch current movies like Shrek3 or 300 or Beowulf rather than waiting for them to come on cable. And with them there's nothing to download. It's streaming video.

I've got some old snippets of races from Wide World of Sports that are not available to the public:
1958 Grand National from Daytona
1959 Daytona 500
1960 Daytona 500
1969 Rebel 400 from Darlington
1979 Daytona --- just a short snippet
1980 Daytona -- about 2 hours worth
1981 Daytona

I got these gems from an insider some years back. Boy, was the racing ever different "back in the day". :)

TRL, isn't that the truth. But for that kind of excitement, the local scene is almost the same as back in the day. But that too is changing as NASCAR has a deep pocket and reach. If the racing at Bowman Gray Stadium ever becomes what the Cup series is today or yesterday, they might as well close up shop because they won't sell a ticket.

I got several races on VHS. I got the Winston the year Rusty wrecked DW. Then the 600 the next week. On the 600 tape is where John Boy and Billy had wrote and preformed the song about it. It was to the tune of the Devil went down to Georgia, but it was like Rusty went down to Charlotte looking for a race to steal. I got several other race tapes too. I even got some old Wilksboro races on tape that I taped while I was gone to the race.

You need to upload them to YouTube for everyone else.

you must not realize that hughesnet basically blocks that from happening before it even starts. Plus TRL probbaly doesn't have an ADC unit or capture software (aside of windows movie maker :puke:).

Besides, I wouldn't even know where/how to begin transferring video tape to YouTube. ROTFL

I'm doing good to program the damn clock on the VCR.
I do, i've done it in class. It required a ADC (Analog to Digital Convertor box) and a 1394 port, which most computers dont have anymore.

All you need is a TV Tuner card.

Heck, I'll send her one if she promises to get these races up PRONTO!!!

I had the last race at riverside but lost it when the house burnt in 1999. :( anyone have that race that can make me a copy?

i'm putting VIVO on my 7800GT if it suports it, but dont have a darn clue how to use it yet (imagine that, lol)

YouTube is your friend.

Yeah.. I've spent a LOT of time there!!! I've been watching DVDs and tapes over and over! Tomorrow it starts on SPEED, but sheeesh.. it's ONLY 1/2 hr. Oh well...... I can't complain. And then there's those Daytona races on the station I won't write in a response to you. ;) (a lot cuz I'm really tired of looking at that whizzing kid. heh heh) :D

WNY, I'm right in that boat with you. I've gone to the library and dragged out races from the 80s, simply to calm the withdrawal symptoms.

Geeeze... I never even thought of the library!! Hmmmm... I wonder if they keep Nascar races up here past the Mason-Dixon? Well, shoot! You meant your OWN library!! I should have kept reading before I posted!!! :D

I actually borrowed 2 Nascar games from my son-in-law. Yeah right.. .I'm sure I'm going to be able to REALLY play that! I haven't been able to figure out the controls since my son got past having a Super Nintendo. LOL B)

I think this old computer would take FOREVER to watch a race online. I can just hear my son (who I am ALWAYS yelling at for downloading movies and music on MY computer!!!!) if I was downloading something. Ok, I admit it, I've done it before. LOL shhhhhhhhhh.. don't tell. :p

My husband got me all of the ESPN Ultimate Nascar DVDs for Christmas. I think on the last one, it has several condensed races. They've been fun to watch and I had some races on VHS and I don't know what the heck happened. I mean one, I even snapped the thing off so it couldn't get taped over and I can't find it. Grrrrrrrr.... I'm also now kicking myself for taping over races week after week until toward the end. I'll know better this year.

I got the "100 Defining Moments" DVD from Walmart. It came with an "ESPN" coolie I've since wiped my bottom end with.

It sucked. Jerry Punch's voice and the production ruined the whole thing. I wish they would've just shown them as it happened.

"Ultimate NASCAR: The Explosion" rocked. But it was the only solid one.

Maybe some of you need to step up and get a DVD recorder to burn your movies too. Not only do the DVDs take less space but then you could put them in your computer and share with your friends.
I just don't burn races but maybe I'll set it up to do them this year. DVDs are really cheap.

I have one. I got my DVD Recorder (hooks up to cable) for $20. :)

That was the worst out of all of them, Andy. I couldn't believe how poorly that was done. It's a good thing they added the condensed races as "bonus features," since the actual title DVD sucked! Not only did you have to hear the voices, they put all that stupid border around it.

I was pleasantly surprised with watching the first one. It was the best of the bunch.

I was hoping to get a new computer and then the stupid spring on my right front driver's side broke on my car. So..no DVD burner for me! I'm a hold out on getting a DVR. It ticks me off that you can't just buy the stupid thing and use it like a VCR. No matter how you acquire it - Tivo, cable, dish, you have to pay a monthly service fee. They can kiss my grits. I pay them enough already. But sheeesh... it's harder and harder to even find a VCR these days! I know I sent my husband searching for one 2 yrs ago when my last one died. I've seen the duo things have come down in price, so maybe if they're still around when this one kicks, I'll consider it.

Actually that's not true about Tivo. You are limited in what you can do and you only get a 3 day window rather than the 14 day window you get for a paid subscription. But, you can manually schedule for it to record your programs and then transfer them to VHS or DVD.
The limitations are a smaller window of time for the program schedule. You can't search for programs. You can't have it set up to auto record a program but you can set it up to auto record at a certain time on a certain channel.

The problem I've seen with DVRs from the cable company here is that they don't give you an option to off load the saved program to DVD or other media.

I didn't know that. I've only looked at them briefly when they were on sale - cheap - and then it would mention the price of subscription and all the people I know, get the subscriptions, so I didn't know it was possible to do it manually. I think I'm a cheap skate... or maybe just poor. Some people talk about having 3 DVRs AND a bunch of VCRs. And here I thought I was an addict about some things on TV! I used to think I was "special" when I had two VCRs. LOL

Thanks, Kat!!
