MM2k is available in my area. It is ISDN at 64k for $19.95/month or at 128k for $39.95/month. Is this much faster than ordinary dial-up? I have AOL now, so anything should be an upgrade. I am hoping to be able to download music for CD burning etc. Would the 64k help?

4xer, downloading music or anything else is all dependant on not only what you have, but also what the other server or person has. I'm using Road Runner, but if the other person has a lousy upload, it will still take forever. The very fastest I've downloaded 5 megs was about 10 seconds, but that is very few and far in between. Normally about the fastest you can get with a dialup is around 48k, so if you can get a full 128k, you're going to be about 2 1/2 times faster. When the son was using AOL for his dialup, he would just leave the computer on all night long while it downloaded music.

The faster I could ever get a dial-up was 44.4k........take if from there.:) The faster the better. Like buck, I can occassionally download 5 megs in about 10 secs.......usually about 15 to 20. If you can get cable, go for it.:D

cable is the best..............hated them dial up days.......:(

I signed up for broadband the other day. They said I was eligible, then they just emailed me today that warner cable said I wasn't. I can get roadrunner from them for $50/month, but I just can't afford or justify it for what I do online.

I live to far out in the sticks to get DSL, and I have a dish so roadrunner is out too. I am stuck with dial up, but I have had good service. I don't get booted off and I can always get on line. I have AOL too. No problems down here. If DSL ever gets out here I will upgrade.

I called warner cable directly and they said they would be out here sunday afternoon to install my AOL Broadband. So, I guess I will be speeding up quite a bit afterall. But, now my brand new CD burner isn't recognizing CD's. Oh well, I can't win for losing I guess.

No big deal. I reinstalled the original CD drive and it worked fine, so I took the other back and exchanged it. The new one works great now. :)
