They would have come up with this new points system before they ever thought of the Chase concept. I like how this new single point separating positions works after 28 races into the season. I like how it keeps these guys close after this far in. I only wish they had come up with that idea before the Chase was implemented. It only goes on to disguise what are the actual events unfolding. For example..... Most all of us are happy to see Keselowski's success @ the end of the season but in actuality he would still be 112 points behind the driver that accumulated the most points so far this season, Carl Edwards. People are starting to look @ Jimmie Johnson as possibly not being able to get back to the lead during this Chase even though he's actually only scored six points less than Carl Edwards. I know that there are probably fewer and fewer fans like me that don't like this Chase each year. I also have no false hopes that the Chase will ever be eliminated. Don't get me wrong, I love the sport and I enjoy the racing. I just don't enjoy the manufactured drama that NASCAR tries to create @ the end of each season. I know I have to live with it but I still don't have to like it. Oh, but what could have been.....
