Some of you know that NASCAR has turned me off greatly over the years. It's been to the point where I just quit watching for the last few years. I hate restrictor plates and The Chase among other things. It started by me just skipping the plate "races". Then places like Pocono started becoming less appointment viewing. Eventually, it just kind of petered out.

I kinda just turned on yesterday's race a few laps in to see how Danica was doing. I was pulling for her. I just like her a lot. Of course, when I did turn it on, my favorite driver Jeff Gordon was leading the pack and she was in the top 5. I suppose that helped. But, mostly I guess I just realized how much I missed it. It didn't look exactly like plate "racing" that I've seen in the past. I still hate that you've got to have help to pass anybody there. But, it seemed better. I watched the rest of the race and it was great. I'm pretty excited about next week's race now. It was kind of strange, though, as I was watching it thinking "now why in the hell is Matt Kenseth in the 20 car?" and "wait a minute, Mark Martin is still racing?". It was kind of weird trying to figure out, and then remember, who was driving what car. It was cool though. It was nice to enjoy a race again.

I'm happy that you enjoyed the race but if it wasn't for the last 20 laps, it would have been the worst race I've ever seen.. I'm one that actually like that you need help to pass, it makes the teams be relevant factor into the race but when their is little to no passing, it's really boring to me.

Hope you stick with it.. I still have high hopes for the Gen6

Glad you enjoyed it. I enjoyed it just due to the fact that there were race cars on the track again.
Welcome back.

I do hope that it's just the Daytona 500 that you don't like ,Lazyking , because some folks come on here every week and say it was the worst race ever . Some of us are die hard fans who enjoy all of the races. Here's hoping that the next one is better for you.:D

I'm a big race fan.. go to my local track all the time.. I can enjoy any race as long as it has some fun racing.. I'm not usually negative. My favorite races are on short tracks really.

You're not going to believe this one , but we will have 'fans' come on here after a shorttrack race and complain that it was awful. I kid you not .:(

I believe it, because not everyone is going to like the samething all the time. But as long as you enjoy it and there is enough interest from other fans to support it then that's all that really matters anyway. There were a lot of fans that didn't like the race yesterday for what ever their reasons might be...but there were also a lot of fans that loved it.;)

Hi everybody, New Guy first post..Good race IMO, not a lot of passing, but pit strategy and the outside lane was the key. Johnson's team set himself up for a fuel only to get to the front on the last pit. Johnson was able to run the inside basically by himself and was ahead of Keselowski when the caution came out. Johnson took the outside lane on the restart and it was all over after that. Good to see so many underfunded teams in the top twenty. That is a healthy sign, hope it keeps up

You left out the last lap slingshot move by Junior and Mark but great post StandOnIt .

In case anybody is interested, short track racing is by far my favorite type of racing. The only track I've actually been to is Martinsville, and I've been there several times. Although I do enjoy places like Atlanta and other tracks as well. It tends to be though that the bigger the track, the less my enjoyment.

It was kind of strange, though, as I was watching it thinking "now why in the hell is Matt Kenseth in the 20 car?" and "wait a minute, Mark Martin is still racing?".
Matt also asked what the hell he was doing in the 20 car, just about the time he pulled it behind the wall.

Mark Martin is a god.

Mark Martin is one of my favorite people in the sport. I used to work with a cousin of his. The cousin was an a-hole, but I don't hold that against Mark. I was happy to see that he was still racing.
