NASCAR writers: I have an idea you guys could argue all day about for track smack. F1 has an X-race engine rule. There aint no way nascar could do that, itd just triple costs.
Howabout, since we have this here universal COT, that NASCAR require the same chassis be used for X consecutive races? Say each car must run 6 races in a row (so 6 cars per season) unless it is deemed unrepairable by nascar officials (at which point the backup now goes the next 6 races, ect). Now, the cars aren't going back and forth from track to charlotte to track to charlotte yadda yadda. Now, they go from track to track 6 times before going back home.
next, change qualifying: In the event that qualifying is rained out, rather than line up by points, howabout the top however many (10 or 12 or 15 or 20) draw straws, and the rest are by points as normal.
next, let's do it old school style. How much do teams spend on hotels for crew guys ect? How about we do this for all 3 series:
day races: practice at 10 AM day before, qualify 2 PM day before, "happy hour" at 10 AM on race day, and race at 2 PM on race day
transition races: practice at 9 AM, Qualify at 11:00am, "happy hour" at 2 pm, and race at 4 pm
night races: practice at 9 AM day before, qualify 6 PM night before, "happy hour" at 9 AM on race day, and race at 2 PM on race day
This would optimize the time constraints, while having qualifying and race in similar conditions, and happy hour and practice in similar conditions.
