If Matt wins 12 races this year...

And become dominant for the next couple years, how many people will still cheer for him and how many will treat him like the next Jeff Gordon?

i already boo kenseth. but because he drives for roush, drives a furd and he has Da-WORST as his sponser.

It's not going to happen, but if it would...I'd be a happy camper.

I know Ozzman from another forum & that comment is to be excepted from him. :(

Uh...thats nice,j ozzman.

Kenseth may well be a true dyed-in-the wool superstar...but no way will he ever be as disliked as Jeff. His personality is just to reserved to garner that kind of reaction. Not an anti-Gordon statement, they are just two different racers.

i tell ya what.
i'd rather see kenseth win every single race this year and the championship than see jeffy gordon get one win.

I really like Kenseth...not a huge fan of Jack though...

I like Matt. But I don't see him winning about 3 amybe 4 races.

I don't root for him, and I don't root against him. He's kinda neutral in my opinion.

If he wins a lot of races it will definitely infuriate a certain faction of "fans". But that being said, I don't see anyone dominating as Jeff did in 1998. NASCAR is too concerned with not turning off any group of fans. They would make some kind of concession to make the Dodge's or Chevy's faster. Spoiler change or the like.

I also don't see him winning alot of races. Fords (especially those Roush cars) are at a real big disadvantage to the rest of the field.

Matt races hard but clean. he is also one of the more humble racers of the younger crowd. as long as his attitude stays the same he should be popular even if he becomes the dominate driver. (just another opinion)

I dont think he will win 12 races but he may win 6 or 7 and it wont surprise me a bit. I do however think that Matt will win the Winston Cup points title this year. And no I dont think he will ever be booed if he starts winning more than anyone else.

Matt may not win 12 races, but I think Roush might win at least that many this season. That organization is really on top of it's game right now.

I wouldn't like it, but i wouldnt mind it. Kenseth is the one ford guy I like. I could see him winning another 5 again this year and maybe the title.

If Goodyear starts bringing softer tires to the track it could hurt the 17 team. Tire conservation would become a bigger factor than track position at certain tracks. But as long as his pit crew keeps reeling off sub-14-second pit stops he'll get his share of wins and top 10s.

Kinda describes Jeff Gordon to.

Maybe I phrased the question wrong. I was not predicting that Matt would win 12, but how dominant does a driver need to be before the Jeff Gordon Syndrom catches up to them (the booing or cheering when he wrecks). Most everyone was happy for Jeff when he got his first couple wins.

What, you think Jeff is ****y, or do you think he is reckless?

He is only the winningest active driver in NASCAR. If anyone of the drivers in NASCAR has a right to be a little arrogant, he does and he is no more arrogant than any other driver out there with more than one cup win.

He has the right to be as ****y as he wants to be.

Personally, I think the cleanest of the big name drives is Tony Stewart.

Bobby Labonte maybe, but not Tony.

In his defense, I don't recall an inordinate number of events where he was just out and out blatant with his bumps though.

I've never seen Stewart in a fight.
Tony and Robby Gordon had a 'get together' in the garage at Daytona. Stewart also had words with Gordo at Watkins Glen, but they were separated by officials and their respective crews. When Tony was in Busch he had quite a few arguments. I'm pretty sure him and Todd Bodine almost went at it. I was a big Tony fan back then. I have a 1/64 of his Shell car, keep kicking myself for not getting a 1/24.

Having an arguement is one thing, fists flying is another. Harvick was in an arguement, not a fight. So has Stewart.
