iPOS5 absolutely destroyed the functionality of my phone. Camera on my iPhone used to be great -- better than my actual camera. Well, my camera's broke now and I have to rely on my iCrap to take pictures. I updated to iPOS5 because the phone was acting horrible (terrible battery life, slow). You get that, the day the new iPhone was released, the battery life in my iPhone 4 magically dropped in half. Used to be able to go an entire day (sometimes 2 or 3 days) without charging, on heavy use. Now, I have to charge it two or three times a day.

I talked with several friends that also have iPhones and they suggested updating to iOS5 and it fixed most of their issues. So I did. The update included "improved functionality" for the camera. Needless to say, every picture I've taken with the camera has gone in the recycle bin and I'm having to use file photos for all my articles now. Zoom in = heavily distorted picture. Indoor picture = fuzzy and blurry. Never had these problems pre iPOS5.

I won't even get started on AT&T's ****ty service. Being without a cell phone for five days when I was staying near Martinsville, dead zones, no service with 5 bars of service.

Typing on the keypad is an absolute comedy. The screen is so small you have to have little smurf fingers to type on it. The result: http://damnyouautocorrect.com/

Oh, and my battery life sucks just a little less now.

Oh and an app that translates politician speech to English would be great. :D (I guess that would be a BS detector app, right?)

I upgraded my software on my iPhone also and haven't had any of the problems that you are describing. You can always remove the upgrade if it's not working for you.

My service is with Verizon and I am trying to figure my next upgrade. I can’t decide on the Iphone or the Droid bionic.
I tried a droid last year and returned it, all the Smartphone’s I have used were more of a windows type format, and the droid was a struggle for me.

Two of my workmates have the droid bionic, two other workmates have the apple one touch type, all of them love and recommend their phones and that part has me confused.

I live mine!!! Couldn't be happier.

Oh, and the "3G" on AT&T Wireless is totally worthless.

I'm considering switching to Verizon and getting an Android smartphone.

GF & her parents upgraded to iOS5 without issue
Same with every other friend I know that's upgrades, no issues.

I think it's just you, Andy.

Nothing like Apple's PR to respond to my message saying everything's fine.

iOS5 sucks and I will be getting an Android smartphone.

Andy, you won't like it, I guarantee that you won't. Why? Because I have a Droid and Verizon and I love them both. :p

Andy 5.01 released..might help

lol

Exploding Apple products are rare, but explosions have happened in the past, mostly related to the devices’ lithium ion batteries overheating.

lithium ion batteries are dangerous. the army had a radio with lithium ion batteries explode while a general was a passenger in the vehicle the radio was in (nobody was hurt). had to issue immediate safety alerts and put warnings in all tech manuals of the the possibility of explosions. <g>
