Saw that the NHRA announced they were moving the start of the playoffs from Maple Grove in PA which IHRA just bought to the newly minted NHRA facility US 131 Motorsports Park in my home state of Michigan and figured I'd at least post about it and see if people cared much. IHRA has really invested heavily and is buying and reopening tracks all over the place while NHRA seems extremely reactive. IHRA has decided to abandon 1/4 mile and go all 1/8 mile while NHRA is sticking to 1/4 mile for pro series outside the nitro classes. Gotta be honest here: this benefits me tremendously. IHRA bought Milan and will run national events there; NHRA is bringing Michigan a national event now too. Lots of cars are coming out of mothballs and things are at least beginning to get interesting between these two. IHRA does need a real media deal though; Speedsport1 doesn't seem like a long term solution.

Any thoughts or observations from anyone else? I'm especially interested in hearing from @Nitro Dude on this topic.

I like that IHRA has committed 100% all in on trying to up their series that will give the lesser funded teams a good place to race, but I hope they are not biting off more than they can chew. I do think it will force NHRA to up their game also which should be better for the racers that race NHRA. I would love to see both organizations work together but I don’t see NHRA doing that. I want to see both organizations do well but I don’t know if there are enough cars to support both series. I do know that there has been a lot of teams talking to Del Worsham and showing interest in racing some IHRA events. I know that Del has committed to the full IHRA schedule next year and I think Bobby Bode is going too also. It’s going to be interesting that’s for sure.
