For anybody who reads the weekly newspaper "Nascar Winston Cup Scene", or as it is called now, "Nascar Scene", my name was mentioned & I was quoted in an article on page 28 in the current issue (Jan. 8th, '04). The article is a piece about the welcome home parade in Cambridge, WI for Matt Kenseth on the Saturday after Christmas and the fan club party in Madison later that day. Of course, my last name was spelled wrong.
I don't subscribe to NS, and it's not availible at the supermarkets in my area anymore, so when I want a copy, I have to drive to Greenfield (Milwaukee) to get it. I knew the article was going to be in the current issue, but wasn't sure if they were going to use any of my quotes. So yesterday, I was in West Allis (Milwaukee) for the World of Wheels Auto Show to get Terry LaBonte's autograph and took the opportunity go down to Greenfield to page through the issue. When I saw my name...I had to pick up a few extra copies to give out!
Hint: If anyone does read the article...my first name is the same as the driver I got an autograph from yesterday.
Also, at the party, Matt drove the car he won the 2000 Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe's with from the back of the hall, to the stage. I took a picture as he drove by our table and it turned out beautifully. I was suprised. The window net was down, and the shot of Matt was perfect as he had his hand on the shifter, grabbing a gear. The folks who run Matt's website asked if they could use that picture and now it's part of the 'flash intro' of photos on Matt's front page.
