Hello all. I've been looing around for a generall all racing forms board and looks like i've found it. I'm on multiple message boards already, most notably Ryan Newman Online.
I've been a nascar fan since about '98 or '99, after being raised in an NHRA family....so i'll start there....
We were a sportsman Supergas team funded by ourselves and a lone sponsor (other than congistency) for several years. I became an "active" member of the team when i was around 3 yrs old, doing electrical and coling system duties (engaging cooling fans, battery charger, dowsing radiator in water, ect). This was all back when we lived in Covina, California.
In July 1995, my dad's employer of the time required us to move here to gainesville Texas because they were building a new plant. About 2 and a half years later, we sold the car and trailer since the nearest track was on the other side of the state (which in texas is a looooong way). Then my mom's 1965 10% restored numbers matching mustang got totaled. In short, we threatened the insurance company because they didnt offer enough (we had every single reciept..dont ask why) and got enough money to get a boat and 1987 camaro.
Fast forward a few years....
My dad, after 5 short term jobs, landed at a new company making polyethylene pipe. They had a plant down the road from TMS, so they started selling discount tickets left and right for events there. Well, from there, this sums it up:
2005 Dickies 500
2005 Samsung Radioshack 500
2004 Samsung Radioshack 500
2004 TMS Busch race
2003 TMS Busch race w/ hospatality
2003 TMS IRL Race
2002 TMS Busch race (I think)
2002 TMS IRL Race
2002 TMS Truck race
200? TMS Dirt track Sprint car race.
So yea, i'm a dedicated fan. All 3 cup races were out of pocket, the rest 100-150 dollar discounted tickets.
I'm a techie (if you can call it that), but i was given a big decision for my birthday: I had to decide between 2 19" flat screen monitors or 2 Dickies 500 tickets. The list above pretty much tells you the answer. Call me wierd, but thats me.
