I've been playing with the idea for a long time and I think it is about time to go ahead and write a novel.

I don't know if I will ever be published. I could really use the money of course. But, even if I never sell a thing it should be fun and keep my brain from turning to mush. I read a lot of books and have a pretty good sized vocabulary as well as a pretty vivid imagination.

I really like the ideas I have so for for my first book. I'm a murder mystery kind of a guy, so my first book is exactly the kind I love to read. It is kind of a psychological thriller. I'm telling the story of the killer and the story of the FBI agent who is trying to catch him. I have spent an awful lot of time on character development and will continue to do so. I am trying to make it as real and plausible as possible for a story about a guy who kills several people.

I also have a few other ideas for other books floating around in my head too.

Has anyone in here ever tried to write something like this?

I think TRL would fit a book writer's profile....

one of my friends here wants to write a book eventually....already decided the title: "The puzzle between V and P".

I'll let the imaginations roam on what they stand for..i took me 30 seconds to figure out ;)

Took me about 5! :p But ya know how my brain works..haaha

I completed my first draft for the first chapter and I am very pleased with it.

I am awaiting a review of it from my sister-in-law who teaches english at Oklahoma University. She will be pretty honest with me I think. We don't get along very well, so I don't see her sugar coating much.

Publish a copy on the web of the 1st chapter and I'm sure some of us will read it. Many books are done that way to gather interest.

 Your sister-in-law wouldn't be Anita Hill would she? Just kidding, but Anita did teach at the university at one time.

Would love to read what you wrote.

I actually really want to do so. I'd kind of like to see what you guys think of the first chapter, but I'm kind of afraid of legal trouble. Either someone stealing my idea and finishing the book before I do, or trying to sue me for stealing their idea by saying they wrote it first would be enough to push me over the edge.

I hadn't even thought of that. We all post here and get along. I sometimes forget strangers are reading.

How about zipping the chapter with a password and have those that want to read it PM you and provide a valid email address? Send the file and password in separate emails so one is no good without the other. It's not real secure but probably good enough for your purpose. Don't send it to anyone you don't feel comfortable with to respect your wishes not to distribute it.

That is way over my head. I do ok to do a pretty simple email.
