GARLAND, Texas - North Texans have been gossiping about whether a famous California-based burger chain would be expanding into our territory. Now comes the most concrete proof that it may actually happen.

The Garland City Planning Commission has approved zoning for an In-N-Out drive-through restaurant in Firewheel Town Center.

In the minutes from their April 26 meeting posted online, the commission discussed zoning for a property east of Lavon Drive, south of Town Center Boulevard.

"The previously undisclosed restaurant is for an In-N-Out Burger," according to the minutes.

If it's actually built, it would be the first in Texas. The burger chain is currently only in three states: California, Nevada, and Arizona.

The plans call for a drive-through and an outdoor patio, bordered by a large amount of landscaping.

The board approved the plans unanimously.

There's no word on when construction could begin.

saw the title and thought white castle was coming to texas (if not already there). <g>

I ate at In-N-Out a couple of times on my last trip to CA --- wasn't all that impressed to be honest. I'll take the burger my local little dive makes any day.

Texas is in for some GREAT burgers, and even better fries. I loved In-n-Out when I lived out there.

But at least out here we have 5-Guys, which is (if possible) even better than in-n-out.

I wish we still had a good little dive but like everything else they have faded away to the big ones.

We're too small for the big chains to come in and take over. We have 1 Jack in Box, 1 Wendy's, 1 Mickey D's, 2 Sonic, 1 Whataburger ---- but all are very small.

Our local dive is always jammed during lunch. The bacon/cheeseburger is a thing of beauty. The beef is fresh and the patties are made by hand -- not a frozen puck thrown on the flat-top.

We used to have a little corner grocery store that had a kitchen. They made giant hand-made patty burgers.I ate there all the time.Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.Wish they were still around.

In-N-Out is highly overrated IMO. Very little choice and the burgers are pretty bland. Plus, you have to ask for napkins.

I like them but I can only get them when I go to Vegas. Now if they are around all the time I may start thinking of them as 1 of the norm.
