Possible Busch meltdown, or two?

Can the #14 find just a little something and take a hold of the #48?

Could this be the race were Hamlin finally puts it back together?

I have to go with Jimmie Johnson. #48 team is in championship trim this year again it looks like and JJ is very good at 16th and Georgetown.

I predict Johnson gets it hooked up early and wins by 8 seconds. Everybody complains about how boring the race was. About 100,000 people will show up, but the place seats 400,000 for the 500 so it will look empty and people will start wondering why NASCAR still races at a place designed for IndyCars. But, the Brian France and the Hulman George family like money, so NASCAR will keep racing here.

1. Hamlin
2. Kahne
3. Montoya.

Yes, you've heard it here first:D

Johnson wins it going away. Dont see anybody having anything for them.

The 48 car, having been in it's fancy garage digs will run even faster this week. The black helicopter folks will picket the next race demanding the end of Kanus, his cheating ways and the mind games that screwed up his drivers chance of winning.
48 Johnson
78 Kurt Busch
42 Montoya

I also predict, there will be constant whining about the usual. Boring, attendance, announcers, the track, new for this week...dirt. Probably get a stick and ball expert to inject some off topic B.S. into the race thread that nobody cares about. We should probably keep score, and the winning whiner get the cry baby award at race end..send them a brand new binky to suck on and a blue blankie to curl up with.

Coffee a bit weak this a.m.? LOL

New Hampshire, Pocono, Charlotte, Dover, Michigan, Kentucky, Chicago, Bristol, Phoenix, Daytona, Talladega, Kansas, Darlington..... and more... what do these have in common that I would find relevant.. then you'll know my prediction... lol i dont know im bored.

Lookin' like a 48 kinda day to me, not exactly going out on a limb with this one, but I think Jimmie will be kissing the bricks for a 5th time this afternoon.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if JJ or Gordon win today, wouldn't they be the first ever 5-time winners at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway? I don't think anybody's won the Indy 500 more than 4 times.

Correct. I don't think it's nearly as impressive as winning the 500 five times would be, but it would be great to see either achieve it.

Yeah, as TLR suggested, why not merge all these Indy threads?

Some things have become easier to do. Indycar's lack of good competition have made it easier than years before to win 5 times. On the other hand Petty winning the championship 7 times was easier back then in nascar than it is now. Things change. I think winning Indy five times for either Gordon or Johnson if either do, is something that isn't going to be duplicated for a long time in the history books.

Kinda hoping JPM makes up for his pit speeding violation a few years ago but most of all hoping for a great race with more passing than usual.

That, I agree with.

I used to hate JPM because he came into NASCAR an arrogant punk who couldn't drive a stock car.. Now that he's been beaten down and humbled I won't mind him getting his first oval win.. Besides, I think Chad has got his fair share for the season

I was pretty close.

hey Kev, I hit the like button..you nailed it.
I didn't really go out on a limb. Like you said on the other thread, everybody has complained about NASCAR at Indy since they reconfigured the corners to make room for the F1 road course so I knew we'd get the "zzzz boring" comments. Unfortunately, seen the "lol empty" comments before too. After the F1 tire fiasco, the hoosiers started not going in big numbers anymore and the F1 glitterati started wondering why it looked like nobody was going. NASCAR had their tire fiasco in 08, attendance drops off, and now everybody comments that it looks empty.

That track is trying to be everything to everybody and that is the problem. Like Stewart said. For some reason, many Nascar fans think there should be passing passing passing every lap. Might be because of video games or something IDK. I went to dirt tracks for years, both nights, the faster they went, the less passing they did as a rule. If you wanted to see beating, banging, rough driving and close finishes, you went Friday night and watched a class called street stocks or super stocks. Now, there aren't cars in the junkyard with frames, you have to build all that, so they don't race as hard or look like street cars. That statement will probably draw some heat, but for me anyway, when they quit racing cars that looked like cars, started the rear steer stuff, they lost me. I watched a bunch of sprint car features, and the world of outlaw guys would race with the locals a couple of times every year, that were snoozers. Our big track shut down, not enough fans, and it cost too much to race for what the purse could pay.
