They lost their race that had great fan participation. Which one is it that’s more embarrassing, losing a race like that or racing in front of a “lack of fans”.
I'm still not talking about Road America. Chicago replaces it. I don't cry over spilt milk. But a boring single lane single file race showing empty stands, nothing is going to make the fans show back up. Not having to listen to weeks of whining about the lack of a crowd at R-F is a bonus also.

We don't know how the new car would race on the oval. If the other races so far are any indication, it would be an improvement.

As far as the fans in the stands are concerned, are you suggesting the road course attracts higher attendance than the oval?

Curiosity about the way the new car would race is about the only thing the oval has going for it.

It would race like Pocono and we saw Pocono it was Pocono. The road course is a better race. To act like winning it is not Indy like Harvick is doing is just being stupid. Everyone hated Indy for years and then when it's gone suddenly it was the best. It's the same BS we see with the Chicagoland and keep California 2 miles people. It's nostalgia for something that wasn't any good. It's stupid, I want good racing not some "tradition" that is 3 years younger then I am.

Going out on a bit of the limb, I think the crowd at Indy for Nascar will be larger than last year's barn burner turtle drama. Looking at the practices, it looks like NBC brought their A game with camera placements, I think we will also be able to see a better race because of that. Penske has been doing his thing with the track also. It's beautiful

Well in AJs sake, we would would like to support Xfinity @ IRP and THEN Cup @ Brickyard 400 oval.

I think the ratings were much better at the oval and attendance was the same at about 55-60k+.
Don't count me as one of the we's. All you have to do is look at who is racing the road course in the Xfinities at Indy. It will probably be the race of the weekend.

My point in bringing up Road America is that the attendance card and empty stand argument…I don’t buy it anymore. The place was filled and still lost a race. If we’re basing tracks hosting a race based on attendance well then Indy should be off all together based on the empty stands you brought up. Yea you’re more than entitled to your opinion, I’ll just value someone’s opinion a little more that’s actually involved with the sport and has actually raced an won at Indianapolis. If someone like that insinuates the series should be racing on the oval…maybe they should be or at least be taken a look at. As for the whining…I give it a shoulder shrug. Someone is always going to be whining about something, people like what they like.

I kind of think this is a broad stroke. But I can only speak for myself in that I never had a problem with racing at Pocono or Indy as it was. California I’m indifferent, keep it or change it, don’t care. Chicagoland…we’ll I’ve said enough about that. I think fans have different interpretations of what a good race is to them, I don’t think there’s a common agreement in that what someone is entertained by someone else isn’t. For me, tradition counts, that’s one of the reasons what makes sports and racing so enjoyable for me. To see Kyle Larson win on the same layout Jeff Gordon or AJ Foyt win on is damn cool. To change things just to change it, I don’t know, that doesn’t resonate with me. What you call BS, and some of it probably is, I’d call a valid reason. I don’t want to $hit on those that enjoy the road course at Indy, if they like it good for them, I’ll be watching tomorrow as well.

The race is coming back on the Indy road course next year so by then we will have seen the Chicago race I would think also. Of course many will not like any change no matter how successful it is.

Chevy looking a lot like Toyota today. Fords are pretty strong. Fascinating how this new car shakes things up.

Yeah, the place will be a quarter full at best no matter what. If you’re racing in front of 25% capacity you may as well do the thing that generates the best TV numbers. Xfinity Saturday night at IRP would be great. You can still make a whole week out of the Indy area.

I would like to see cup at IRP, thats a much better track for stock cars than the oval and we have to many road courses.

It’s so funny to see how many people miss the oval in just two years. I remember in 2020 when Xfinity ran the RC and Cup still ran the oval the outcry was insane, which is why they moved it to the road course in the first place.

Honestly too last years race was epic, if it wasn’t for a curb being destroyed last year that would’ve been a for sure 9-10 type race. Stock cars not giving a legit slip stream like an open wheel car makes this place a tough watch as passing is nearly impossible

Does anyone even remember anything that happened before the curb restart shenanigans last year? Pretty sure it was just Elliott and Larson 10 seconds ahead of everyone else before all of the clownery.

I know I saw fans on the social media sites (Twitter, Reddit) that always wanted the oval and never wanted the road course. It's kind of funny to me as well but in a different way that so many clamored for change, they got change in the form of what is it 7 road course races now and now they're complaining about that. I think you'll always have a segment of the fan base ready to complain about something, if thats the case it might be just best to leave it alone in the first place.

It's race day from Indianapolis. While I'd prefer the OG Brickyard 400.......it's always special day that NASCAR races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

I'm in the mood for a jog myself this morning. Here's the last 6 Brickyard 400's loop data. 2016 was a stinker in terms of lead changes, but what track doesnt have a stinker now and then? The rest had their fair share of double digit lead changes.

Only one race to go by in comparison, but on the oval one driver dominated the race in most of these above usually half the race or more they were leading laps. An Aero jamboree
