IndyCar Series Points System Change

This year, IndyCar will change the championship points system just a bit. The change is this..

Two points are awarded to the driver who leads the most laps in each race. One bonus point is awarded to the driver who earns the pole in each race. So the pole winner will get a point for qualifying the fastest. The pole winner will still receive the $10,000 Peak Performance Award for the pole as well, except the Indy 500, the award is $50,000.
The old system since 2001 had the driver who led the most laps during a race got all 3 bonus points. The points for the finishing positions from 1 on down will not change.

I like this idea. I think it should of been this way to start with. The Firestone Indy Lights Series does this points method too.
