My son and I watched Inglorious Basterds and Repo Men last night. The wife and the girls had their monthly girls' overnighter at church so we had our coinsiding monthly guys night. We usually get Subway or pizza or something and rent a movie or two. We usually get at least one real guy movie with lots of people getting shot and/or blown up.
Inglorious Basterds was a disappointment in that the trailers for it made it seem like a really funny movie. It had some hysterical parts in it, but most of the movie isn't funny at all or is it supposed to be. It tries to be a good spy movie, but it failed to be so in my opinion.
Repo Men was exactly what you would expect it to be. It is set sometime in the not-too-distant future. Jude Law and Forest Whitaker play two guys who repo bodily organs from people who can't make the payments. These are all mechanical parts. It took a while for me to get past the concept of what they were doing, but after I got over the initial disgust I enjoyed it quite a bit. If you want a mindless violence and just bloody action movie, you could do worse than Repo Men.
Anybody else seen either one or both of these movies. If so, what did you think?
