My friend is an artist. She paints beautiful oil paintings of racers and cars. She's wondering if there would be a demand for her paintings among Nascar fans. If you think there is, then how do you think would be the best way to market her art? thank you all for your input. it is greatly appreciated.

the good and the bad..... the market is there, but now for the bad......... the only way to "legally" do those for NASCAR is to obtain liscensing agreements...... and they are NOT cheap. I know of several artist that do those now, and sell litho's as well as originals, but they are either officially liscenced by NASCAR or the drivers, who get a cut from the profits.
My suggestion would be to set up a webpage, find a loval track and do drivers of that type, maybe even the top touring late models. If the business that my uncle Gator does with his models for our local track is any indication, there is a tremendous market out there. Plus, those guys REALLY APPRACIATE the hard work and time that goes into such things...... just my thoughts.

I agree. Starting out at local level would help. There's lots of touring series out their, dirt and asphalt. I have purchased lots of stuff from our track photographer. I have had stuff made from other sources. You would have to be careful not to step on the official track photographer's toes.
Good Luck.

I like that Kellog...... lots of people don't think the way you do, so when I hear someone stand up for us track photographers, let me say for all of us, THANKS. In this day of easy copying and printing, it really kills our business.... The thing most don't understand, is that we are there because most people cant get the shot we can...... not braggin, just sayin it is not easy to get a pic of a car travelin at over 100 mph, sideways, centered up, and clear....... it takes good equipment, and a bit of talent. If the people that dont support them, or think , heck I can make my own copies, dont stop and think if the guy with that camera isn't at least breakin even, he won't be there.........
BTW, I noticed your avatar, is that Volunteer Speedway? If it is, I got the chance to meet ya'll's photo guy last Oct at the Grand Nationals, seemed like a pretty nice guy. Loved the track btw... The Rusty Wallace Hobby Stock guys put on a pretty good show.

Yes, that is Volunteer Speedway. We have raced their since they opened. Randall Perry is a nice person. He does great work. You all get some great shots from the pits and standing on the scoreboads. I do appreciate it.
I hope you enjoyed visiting our track.

I have been going to races since I was 3 months old. I've taken lots of pictures, but none as good as a professional photographer. You all do a good job. Michael Moats is a another great photographer. In all the years and different tracks, I've only met one photographer I didn't like, he's in Sevier County, TN
