It was 1985 when I first experienced a good Japanese vehicle and though I've not had one since, I know how well they are built. I just bought a 2004 Dodge Stratus and though I love that little car, it pales in comparison to the Toyota Camry and Avalon, the Nissan Altima and Maxima, and many others. I don't pride myself in that all I will purchase is an American named car. I'm mixed about what I want to drive because I want comfort and looks as well as performance. I no longer want a minivan, or for that matter, an SUV, but would love one of the cars my son calls an "old man's car". I love the Chrysler 300 and have always wanted a Caddie. Those cars are top of the line cars with American names, but don't really compare to many of the top of the line Japanese cars. Wanna Lexus? How about an Infiniti? Let's face it, Japanese cars have now come full circle and are worth every bit as much as American branded cars. And now we see that many of them are more "American" than those we have always thought to be US cars.

I own a 1995 Nissan 240SX and that little red wagon has NEVER given me one ounce of trouble. To be honest, I gave up on so called "American" after I bought my son's Datsun from him back in 1988 and altho I like the looks of many American branded vehicles, no more, and deffininatly not a Fix Or Repair Daily (of which I have owned many in my so called adulthood).

I've never owned anything but a Ford, GM or Dodge. Currently I drive a Saturn Vue and my wife drives a Dodge Caravan. I'm trying to figure out how practical it would be for me to drive a Gem e2. It's a Daimler-Chrysler product. I live in a big city and only drive 6 miles to work but the 25mph top speed is a stopper as I fear I would get run over on even the residential streets.
