Just saw there could be possible mergers between GEM and Bill Davis Racing as well as Ganassi and Michael Waltrip Racing. The Ganassi and MWR merger seems like an odd couple in the making.

Why would GEM w/Dodge merge with BDR w/Toyota?

Ganassi w/Dodge and MWR w/Toyota merging also?

BDR and MWR, run Toyotas and have a alliance as does GEM and Ganassi running Dodges

:confused::confused::confused::confused:

With Dodge stopping support for the Trucks I wonder if the other Dodge teams see the handwriting on the wall and would switch to Toyota rather than be left hanging next year or the year after.

You're right, I forgot about Dodge pulling out of the trucks.

In 2001 I think every light pole in Daytona had the red Dodge Ram flag on it.
Shame to see them leave the sport,,again. But business is business and they're not selling cars.

With GM and Ford cutting back factory support where else can a team go but to Toyota?

<edit> I have somewhere a old Nascar rule book which states "American manufactured sedans" are eligible for compitition. I guess with Toys being made here they fit that rule.

Well yea.....considering a lot of chevy, fords, and dodges are built in Mexico and Canada.......

I think Dodge is only pulling support for the truck series. The writing may be on the wall with Cup, but we'll see.

Chrysler just closed a plant out in Deleware (I think?), took the tax cuts Bush gives 'em to outsource and shipped those jobs out to India or somewhere out there.

I think Dodge realizes the sport has passed them by faster than when entered the sport.

My uneducated guess is, MWR will be sold. They only have one sponsor signed for next year and three cars. Not willing to speculate who will buy MWR or for what reason but guess MWR is on its last legs.

Neither Darrel or Mickey seem to be able to make their teams work and the major portion of the problem is the driver/owner situation.
Darrell stayed to long and Mikey doesn't seem to get the business/performance part. Team performance is certainly not inviting to prospective sponsors and a smile and personality(?) will only take you so far.

All signs have been pointing toward MWR folding or having major problems. So it's interesting they want to add a 4th team and merge with Ganassi. But a MWR-Ganassi merger reminds me of the Sears-Kmart merger years ago - merging two bad companies to make one big, bad company. I think the same applies here.

again, i would think BDR and MWR would team up, then GEM, robby, and ganassi would combine powers.

But none of them would be competitive still. BDR doesnt have a sponsor, MWR has 1 sponsor for 3 cars, GEM has more drivers than cars, robby needs a bigger budget, and ganassi is just now looking at the cup program since the ALMS and indycar seasons are just about if not over.

I honestly thing the biggest mistake MWR made was starting too soon...they should have waited one more year before they decided to go cup racing. Mikey needs to step out of the car and find someone that can drive it, he's proven that he doesnt have the talent to drive that car.

Actually, I don't think it was so much of starting to soon, but starting too big. 3 car team from scratch over the winter was too big of a bite.

I read where Dodge is claiming the going rumor that GEM and BDR will both change to Toyota is only speculation. Hmmm, sounds to me a lot like what Gibbs was saying last year. Don't know about the merger, but from what I've read, it would be GEM merging with BDR. Don't know what to think of any of this, but would love to see Kahne in a much more competitive car.
