This is so sick.

Iraqis Call Shuttle Disaster God's Vengeance

Updated 2:08 PM ET February 1, 2003

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Immediate popular reaction in Baghdad on Saturday to the loss of the U.S. space shuttle Columbia and its seven-member crew -- including the first Israeli in space -- was that its was God's retribution on Americans.

"We are happy that it broke up," government employee Abdul Jabbar al-Quraishi said.

"God wants to show that his might is greater than the Americans. They have encroached on our country. God is avenging us," he said.

Car mechanic Mohammed Jaber al-Tamini noted Israeli air force Colonel Ilan Ramon was among the dead when the shuttle broke up shortly before its return to earth.

"Israel launched an aggression on us when it raided our nuclear reactor without any reason (in 1981), now time has come and God has retaliated to their aggression," Tamini said.

i agree with you Lap3 it is very sick and sad

Iraq has also stated today that they will send suicide bombers to the US. if they are invaded by our troops. I for one can not wait to see the good OLD USA take care of business once and for all in Iraq!

It is time to do some serious a$$ kicking. To say you are happy that any human died is just horrible!

What a shame it didn't land right on Saddams house.;) Just more proof how evil those boneheads are.

Crazy! How even Iraq can think like that is beyond me. Just plain sad and sick as you people have been saying.

Won't make me mad,We are just giving publicty to them.No offense Kat.But in all fairness those who think we should not take those bastards out may change there feeble minds by reading it.;)

What eles would you espect from them.
Dan Rather was reading a few of those comments and I just turned it.

Their reaction isn't all that surprising, but no less apalling.

My prayers go out to the families and friends in their time of loss. They are my only concern. So I pray for God to give them strength during this time.

What did you expect from a moran. That would rather shoot an American than a dog. And to have a Isralie in the shuttle to. They must be in heaven. So sad:( :(

fergy, do what you feel is appropriate, no offense will be taken.

I just thought the topic was germane. Colin Powell is supposed to be addressing the UN about the Iraqi situation on Wed. and Iraq's reaction to this tragedy may sway many others to support the US.

Kat I just think it was an act of things have really put the test to us.Conversation during troubled times is so hard to swallow because it comes with so much truth. The statement was made in disgust of all the problems that face the American people.:)

They can say all the crap they want to. Wait till our military has its say, they'll shut up.

Iraqis are braced for a possible U.S.-led war to rid their country of any chemical, biological or nuclear weapons it may possess. Iraq denies it has such weapons.

Car mechanic Mohammed Jaber al-Tamini noted Israeli air force Colonel Ilan Ramon was among the dead when the shuttle broke up over the southwestern United States 16 minutes before its scheduled landing.

The 48-year-old Israeli astronaut was a fighter pilot in the Israeli air force. He was the youngest pilot in a team that bombed Iraq's nuclear reactor in 1981. Israel said the reactor was intended to develop nuclear weapons.

"Israel launched an aggression on us when it raided our nuclear reactor without any reason, now time has come and God has retaliated to their aggression," Tamini said.

There were no such signs of jubilation over the shuttle disaster in any of the Palestinian territories. The official response from the Palestinians was one of condolence.

"President (Yasser) Arafat and the Palestinian Authority offer their condolences to the six American families and the Israeli family who lost their loved ones in the catastrophe," Saeb Erekat, a senior Palestinian official and spokesman, told Reuters.

Erekat said Arafat had sent President Bush a message of condolences over the loss of the NASA space agency's shuttle. The United States, Israel's closest ally, is the chief Middle East peace broker.

But shouldn't we wait and see what the precious UN thinks of the comments? I mean after all, it's just a cultural difference. They're a misunderstood people that we as Americans shouldn't interfere with.

Or so some would say...not naming names.

BLOW EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM OFF THE FACE OF THIS AND EVERY OTHER PLANET. NOW. YESTERDAY.

I DARE one of them to come around me and start that crap. I'll ram a shotgun up where Allah ain't never seen and see how far a human head will fly. I've had way more than enough of this. If we as a nation tolerate mockery such as this, it's a sad day. Let Susie Sarandon wear another damn tshirt too. She can ride the first rocket.

Calming down now....

My sentiments exactly. And I tend to be a DOVE instead of a HAWK.
GET THOSE M_F BASTARDS ASAP!!!!

Funy you mention the Hollywood angle on this....that is what ticks me off too all these movie star liberals that think they know about politics. What a joke,Bush is the man, he won't tolerate much more of this. The people are in place, or just about, it will get ugly and lives will be lost on our side, but it is a worthwhile cause. If the United States sits back and does nothing all it does is send a message to these people that they can take advantage of us and ruin our coutry. By fighting for what we believe in, what this country is based on, the rest of the world will stand up and listen. We need to be a voice of reason and democracy,a country that leads and not follows....God Bless the USA and the Shuttle Crew.

Im all for blowing sadam and his regime off the earth, I just hope some of you aren't refering to all people of that religion and race though, thats just plain prejudice and ignorance. Im not gonna sit here and argue about that though history speaks for itself.

God Bless all during this time. :(

For them to believe God takes sides in political matters just shows how misguided these sad people are. I can’t help but think no ‘normal’ human person with a heart could feel this way. Sadly it would seem generation after generation have been brought up to only feel hatred towards certain people (Americans in particular) no matter the circumstance, like this unpredictable, unfortunate disaster. *Although sadly I should add, Americans and even Australians shouldn't lower down to their level of bad mouthing. At the end of the day these are uneducated and simple minded people who have lost their way in a major way! If/when war is to come it should be for the right reasons, not as a reaction to something one person has said. His own personal time will come...!!!

My heart and thoughts are with those of the familys and friends who lost dear ones :(

I agree tiger. If we go to war, lets go for the right reason. Not because some idiot runs off at the mouth. God knows some of the things I said but didn't really mean.

You know, after reading through this thread, I have to wonder how many of you claim to be Christians?
Christ taught love and brotherhood, and yet all of you feel that these peoples who are of a different religion, who have been brought up in a very different culture, should be eliminated, blown up and wiped from the face of the earth.
You are all the biggest bunch of hypocrites I think I've ever seen.
Preach peace and love one moment and pure hatred for other human beings the next.
Did you ever stop to think that could be one reason some other peoples and cultures hate us so much?
Look at the history of the world; especially the history of the Christian Church; then come back and talk to me about love, brotherhood, and respect for your fellow man.
The white race and Christianity has done all in its power to eliminate all other peoples and cultures they have come into contact with over the last two thousand years.
It seems those feelings are still quite strong among more than a few.
It is indeed sad to contemplate that other peoples feel so strongly that they willingly commit suicide in order to kill an infidel.
What is so much sadder is that by our own actions, we have continued to feed their feelings of hatred.
I would only ask that before you crucify me, stop and give some serious thoughts to what I've said.
Then you may want to get on your knees and pray God for His forgiveness.
Thank You.

Well now...

"Judge not lest ye be judged..."

I seem to recall a few instances when God ordered His people to wipe out another army. Isn't that why Moses never saw the Promised Land in fact? Because he spared a king that he was commanded to kill?

I'm leaving this thread alone, but I'll thank you kindly to spare me your rhetoric as pertains to my own personal immortal soul...it's in VERY good hands.

Yea, tn-ward a army not a race or religion, your post ( I'll ram a shotgun up where Allah ain't never seen ) seems to target all islamic people. Like all of them are just like sadam and bin laden.

TN fan,
Not trying to judge, only trying to point out the facts and ask that people give some thought to the way they see things and to reconsider their views.
To preach love and brotherhood, to ask for God's blessings, and then to talk of shoving a shotgun into another human being and blowing their head off is about as hypocritical as a person can get, would you not agree.
I only asked that people consider the things they were saying and perhaps rethink their feelings a bit.
If that offends....
I wish I could say that I'm sorry, but that would be untrue.

How did you come up with that one Smack? I'll let TWF answer your comment, but I don't think he said anything that targets Islamic people.....only the people who were happy to see Americans die.

And I'll be right next to TWF shoving the shotgun.

Go join the Marines Smack.

Seems like everytime you post a reply to me you have to bring up something about my maturity or age. If my opinion means so little to you why make a reply to it.

I was actually thinking about joining the millitary, the airforce though.

Did we lose some posts cause I could of sworn I had posted something on this

I hate to have to point out something so obvious, but it appears that I must.

In Biblical times, the skirmishing armies WERE different races, different religions. That's why they were at odds.

If you will kindly re-read the actual words in my post, without injecting your own opinions and PC garbage, you just might see that I said let them start that crap with me. Any rational person with even a passing grasp of the English language would reasonably infer that the comments were directed towards those who made comments that celebrated the shuttle disaster. If that rules you out, it ain't my problem. I said before, I say now, and I will say tomorrow: The first person (Islamic, celery worshipper, Iraqi, Martian, I don't care) who comes around me and makes it known that they consider the loss of lives that occurred when the space shuttle exploded an occasion for rejoice, I will blow their damn head off. Is that plain enough for you, or should I revert to pictures?

You go to great pains to defend the nation of people who hate us. That's your business. I don't tolerate it. That's my business. If that causes you strife, I suggest you mute me, cuz you better know I ain't gonna change to suit you.

OK, now for this one.

1. You point out not facts, you point out your TAKE on the facts. Big difference.

2. Believe me, I put thought into everything I say, here and elsewhere.

3. My views have been considered and reconsidered. I like them fine just the way they are. I have that right. You have the right to not like my views. It's one of the things that makes this country great.

4. I do not agree. I find not one thing hypocritical in defending my country, my religion, my way of life, my leaders, my God, my military, or my freedoms. What I DO find hypocritical is the movement in this country that espouses defending those who murder our innocents. I have a huge problem with that. At one point in time, we called it treason. This nation and the nation of Israel lost innocent lives. Not by God's wrath, not by His vengeance. By a tragic mishap. The citizenry of the nation of Iraq has displayed a sentiment of joy over this event. Not Saddam, not Osama. Car mechanics. READ THE POST!

5. Your opinions do not offend me. They puzzle me.

6. I don't care if you're sorry or not. I guarantee I'll lose not one second sleep fretting over it.

In summary, I would like to point out that our nation is on the brink of war. Not a food fight, war. People are going to die. Lots of them. It's sad. It's also the only way to rid our planet of a very evil man. A man who would shove that same shotgun up YOUR orifices at the drop of a hat, and pull the trigger with glee, all the while proclaiming that it is the divine will of his God. Stand back and let him if you like. If I go, I'm taking a few of the rat bastards with me.

Once again Americans confuse me. Why does religion come into this war at all? This country is known to have weapons of mass distruction and for whatever reason they have such hatred against Americans, and might I add other countries, shouldn't matter...no one can change the way they think and hate...all you can do is defend yourself, your country and way of life. God or no God, I believe every person on this earth of whatever religion has a right to do that.

And trust me when I say you can't stop them hating you. As a third generation Australian I get treated like trash by people of other religions, simply because I'm white and don't wear a scarf. Australia welcomes all people of all different nationalities and religions. Helps them greatly financialy and housing etc... but the hate is still strong. No matter how much respect you and your Government shows them.
