Irene update

According to the weather guessers it'll hit tomorrow tracking to our west as a weak Cat 1 or strong tropical storm leaving RI in the northeast quadrant. Lot's of rain and winds up to 90 mph. Trees are full of leaves and wet leaves coupled with strong winds brings trees down, especially as we've had heavy rains recently and the ground is so wet.

Went over and checked the Bay, ugly gray water with that "don't mess with me" look.

For those to our south and west, hope it all turns out good for you.

Looks like a fun day is in store for us tomorrow.

daughter lives in springfield, ma. they've ordered everyone off the roads starting at noon today. for some inexplicable reason to me she had to go out this morning to get insulin refilled. why she waited...who the hell knows? <g> son in springfield burb so probably same condition. haven't heard from him but can see he's on the net.

baton down the hatches mopar. :)

Heavy rain with the worst yet to come. They said this will be a 24 hour event for us... destined for about eight inches of rain.

Well, nothing has happened yet and Irene is on every single channel. The local stations and sub stations are all covering Irene's impact on North Carolina.

Wasn't that bad here in NYC. It certainly wasn't the apocalypse that they said it was going to be.

But it very well could have been worse. Irene started moving faster than expected, and that was a good thing.

All in all, I'm glad it wasn't as bad as first thought. All my racing family is safe --- maybe a little soggy, but safe. And that's all that matters.

I am worried about Whizzer. Haven't heard from him, lately. I know he was in the path of the storm.
Whiz lives in Raleigh and I understand it got plenty of rain. I was listening all day Saturday to a radio station in Raleigh and most of their talk was about the coast.

There was a lesson learned after Katrina and this administration wasn't going to get caught with their pants down and so the warnings were as strong as they could be. The problem I see is that if they do this too often, people will begin to think that the problem isn't as serious as being warned about. Also, how long will the media continue to warn people? I fear that in the future, another hurricane will wreak havoc somewhere and then the blame game will begin again.

Well so far just a lot of rain and not bad with the wind. A few tree limbs down here ans there. Looks like the biggest problem will be when the rivers crest at flood stage. We even still have power, the eye is passing through the Berkshires right now, wouldn't be surpised if the sun is out here by 3:30-4pm. thanks for your concern:D
