IRL Pre-Season Testing

Well, Day 1 of testing at Homestead-Miami Speedway is in the books. Congrats to Scott Dixon for being on top of the speed chart. This isnt new. He had a top speed of 211.372. I think the biggest suprise was Mario Moraes who was 4th quickest. Robert Doornbos had a good debut at 7th spot.

Danica finished in 11th. She will do better tomorrow.

Dan Wheldon was not testing today since he was at a National Guard Youth Event in Washington DC but he will be testing tomorrow.

21st spot. Is he that bad of a dare devil??? and 7/10th of a second, is not alot for those cars...that musta been one fast paced session.
 
From 10th place to 15th place is real close in time. Those are close set-ups.

Very close speeds sounds like its gonna be a competitive year.
 
or just have more races. Lets have 2 at texas again, i vote that....Maybe do a quadruple header in november ;) They have the room...
 
ever since that CART fiasco some years ago it seems the open wheeled cars have never really sold many tickets anymore in Texas

awesome racing though. But yea, seems since then, a lotta people lost trust in it. Don't think kenny brack helped any.

when you destroy 150 foot of safety fence in a carbon fiber flying object, it wont be pretty. I agree, good comeback story. IRL needs to do something to keep the cars on the ground like NASCAR did with all the roof and hood flaps they have now. slowing em down would take away the action.
 
I was wanting to post the 2nd of practice results here but the report file is corrupt and I was unable to. But here are the combined results of both practice sessions. The driver's best time is shown in order of speed along with which practice session that speed was obtained. Danica didnt fare out as well in the 2nd session. She was 14th today so she fell to 15th overall.

**Note Ryan Briscoe (16th place) drove the #3 Penske machine for the first 90 minutes of Practice Session 1.
 
Ryan Hunter-Reay will be testing with HVM Racing next week at the IRL's open testing sessions at Barber Motorsports Park. EJ Viso is the team's driver.
 
A little correction is needed here. Ryan Hunter-Reay will test with HVM Racing along with EJ Viso at another track besides Barber Motorsports Park. They will test before the season opener. They want to test elsewhere to prep Ryan better for a second car. That is good news.

Also Foyt Racing and 3G Racing will not be participating at Barber this weekend. These teams will be testing at another location before the season opener.
