IRL Turns In 1.0 Overnight Rating

The IRL race from Japan on ABC yielded overnights of a 1.0 rating and 2 share, according to Sports Business Daily. The only sports broadcast with lower ratings for the weekend was ABC's Global Extremes: Mount Everest, with a 0.9 rating. The Arena Football League telecast on NBC also pulled in a 1.0 rating.

Come on now Arena Football?? And what is Global Extremes??

The IRL has got to pull better numbers if it is to stay on the air in years to come.

good...

i hope irl never gets too big and i have to search for it on some obscure satalite tv station...growth isn't always good for the sport.

but, the number could have been low because it was tape delayed and showed opposite nascar in some regions, and here it was on at 3pm and might have been competing with people going out, or who watched the nascar race and had their racing fix for the day.

There are tons interested in Both the IRL and CART but too bad most of them live in the Midwest Indiana mainly!
Plus this race was on at a bad time. ABC would have gotten much better ratings if they showed it live on Saturday night! Not much eles is on Tv on Saturday night. I watched the Cup race but was also busy with other stuff and hardly watched 5 minutes in a row of the cup race.

I think ABC put it in a rotten time slot. They could have moved it to compete wit the CART race and not cup which would have done better IMO

I dont know why they pulled so low of ratings. The race was great, many crashes several of them multicar at that and at one point Kanaan and Dixon running 1 and 2 at the time crashed each other, in which Kanaan broke his arm and his leg. Sounds like great racing to me.

That was one crash fest from all that I saw. Normaly its nto that bad but for some reason there have been bad crashes this year. The 2 worst ones oddly enought envolved the two of the 7-11 Andretti Green cars, one in each wreck.
