Irwindale Speedway to close for good in 2018

Yeah, sad day indeed, its a real shame.
 
One of the nicest facilities around, like a smaller version of a cup track facility. Awesome racing.
Glad i made it there 3 times, final two Toyota All Star showdowns and the K&N Pro Series doubleheader this year.
What a waste
 
You know short tracks are not very good for racing and they drive the fans away from all tracks.
The proof is "has Nascar ever built a new short track?"

I keep saying it and I'll say it again, is there a reason with all these ISC renovations, why they can't build a track in the Northwest or Colorado? Both I think would be good markets for a race.

I never quite understood why they decided to get rid of Pikes Peak but being I was just in Colorado Springs I may be biased there.
 
I wouldn't be surprised to see it open again. The developers that own the place can't get along with each other and haven't been able to decide what they want to do with the place. There is also some hurdles to developing the property into something else, which I am not sure have even been approved yet. The drag strip is the only thing that really held its own there. The oval track pretty much never made any money except when other events came to the track, in particular the drifting events. The real chance for the track to be there has passed and that was with the original operators, but they refused to change management. its going to be sad to see it close.
