Is it just me or...

Is there really not gonna be that much changing in silly season? I mean really the only drivers that are not signed for 2014 are Montoya and McMurray and IDK who would replace them unless Ganassi brings Larson to cup which would be foolish. Am I forgetting anyone? (besides little team drivers).

I am interested to see if Larson campaigans for cup rookie of the year in 2014 or 2015. Will Gnassi run a third car or dump a current driver?
I assume Vickers replaces Martin@MWR, does Martin retire?
How long can Truax keep a top tier ride while being the best at avoiding the checkered flag?
Will Kurt Busch stay at Furniture Row, or drive the 29 for RCR?
What happens to Newman?
Will Turner motorsports run a cup car?

Thing is, there isn't that many in lower series that are ready for a cup ride...Larson needs another year I feel.. I would give Regan another shot and that's about it.

Vickers in the 55 too maybe. And keep an eye out for Austin Dillon in the 3, 33, or 29.. Im wondering if Newman and Harvick are going to switch rides. Also I could see Kurt Busch goin to Childress too. Menard, Kurt Busch, Austin Dillon after Burton leaves. Also Trevor Bayne is being looked at for a full time ride with Roush...maybe a replacement for Greg Biffle if he decides to follow Kenseth's lead and jump off a sinking ship. Maybe over to RPM if Ambrose does decide to go home, which he's been talking about lately. I think there's a lot more to this silly season than doesn't meet the eye lol. May even be better than last years, the only reason its not already is because last year the biggest moves (17 to 20, 20 to 22) were kept a secret and rumours were flyin around all year. This year the biggest thing is Harvick so far but we all know where he's going. So unless another big name pulls a mid season move like Kenseth did I don't see this silly season being as suspenseful but I think a lot more will go on than last year. Seems like were looking at a big group of up and comers just waiting to pounce when someone retires moreso than at drivers moving around within the series. I think Nelson Piquet got a cup ride for 2014 didn't he? Turner Scott? Rings a bell but I forget..

Oops, forgot about Harvick. And Kurt Busch.
However Vickers driving for MWR isnt anything new, its just he will likely be driving full time.
Greg Biffle denied rumors of moving to another team, so that aint happeneing.
I did hear about Piquet moving to cup in 2014, but I didn't hear anything about that after that so no word if its a BS rumor or not.

I think it will be an interesting season. You have the Stewart/Haas situation with Harvick and Newman. RCR filling the void left by Harvick. I would assume that they will either go after Kurt or bring in the grandkid. A lot of talk about the grandkid in the 3 for RCR. What happens with Jeff Burton?

Ultimately, I think we will see 1 shake up. I think McMurray will be out at Ganassi. Harvick to S/H, Dillon and Busch to RCR, Newman to Ganassi in the 1. Kyle Larson may have a few starts next season in cup, but I see him running NAtionwide again. He is supr young and has a wealth of talent. There is no need to rush him.

I would love to see Labonte get the 1 ride, but I am willing to bet he jumps in the 78 and either Regan Smith or AJ get the 47.

Huh? We knew Matt was jumping ship before July 4th, and where Joey would end up was common knowledge not long after 'Dinger was suspended. The only question with Joey was whether he'd bump Hornish from the #22 or Penske would start a third team with the #12.

I also think it's a slow Silly Season. To me, the big question is who gets the #29 / #3 and the #31? Newman, Busch, or Dillon? If not Dillon, Childress can get cheaper talent for one year than those other two; maybe Labonte or even extend Burton. JPM isn't leaving Ganassi, and the way they've been running the last month or so, neither will Jamie Mac. Chip won't leave Chevy until Dodge makes a decision. Vickers is a lock for the #55. Roush doesn't have a sponsor for the #6.

It was never really a sure thing for a while, just speculation. That was the fun part.

Is Logano definitely in the 22, I guess at least another year, until Blaney is ready for cup

I think Caterpillar has more to say about Burtons future than anyone else. If they like him Childress will have a ride for him. If not he is toast.

Yep. CAT has cut back sponsorship this year to only 21 races and Burton has the second Pocono and second Martinsville dates unsponsored right now. He was unsponsored for Sonoma too until they picked up some funding from something called Utility Trailers.

Maybe my head is in the sand, and I am not buyer of construction equipment, but I am unsure of what kind of exposure Burton gives to Cat. No sarcasm intended but he is one of the least seen drivers, not up front or doing something nutty for camera time.

Note to Kim Burton: put on some hot pants and take one for the team. I am not a sicko but many men need the eye candy. And as a team player if you were to do the hot pants get the attention strut, I would play along and pretend to be going crazy :)to help Jeffs PR. Sincere regards we just want the best for Jeff.

That said , I'm sure that hothead young kids that wreck racecars every week are not a sponsors dream either . A company like Caterpiller would want a mature driver who would represent their corporate image . I could see a candy company going with a kid but not AARP.

This brings up a interesting albiet unlikely rumor I heard. Supposedly Bill Davis racing may re enter the sport part time with Catapillar coming back over and Cars.com picking up a few races as well. Its probably not true, but I would love to see that happen!

Bill was the original poster boy for having employees poached from you by the bigger teams.:D
