I'm sure there are a couple here who know for sure, but I think they are placed according to how much money their sponsorship is worth.......like most things in sponsorship, the more you contribute the better your placement.

Actually, the teams are given a set of stickers to place on the front of the door. They are required to place them in a certain manner. This is why they all look similiar.

I believe that contigency and advertising stickers vary from car to car depending only on the owners whim as to placement and/or amount.

The #71 Realtree Retirement Chevy that Dave ran at Daytona had no less than 36 different advertisements on it.

Even the placement of "Winston" type stickers varies from car to car.

I know that you won't see a Budweiser sticker on any of the Petty Enterprise cars. Richard Petty made a promise to his mother that he would never put any Budweiser stickers on his car and to this day has not. The one down fall of this is if an of the Petty cars win a Bud pole for a race they are still not aloud to compete in the Bud Shootout.

This is also why there is a difference in race winnings. Such as Jeff gordon winning more than johnson this past weekend, even though Johnson finish ahead of gordon.
