Tim Kirkjian thinks so and he is ESPN's baseball expert.

I am biased in this discussion by the fact that Josh Hamilton is my favorite basaball player, and a lot of why doesn't have much to do with his baseball abilities. But, it is hard to argue the points Tim K makes in thei short clip. At 240lbs and with his speed he is simply amazing.

I think he's the best player in the Majors right now. I don't see Texas being able to pay him after this year, just hope he doesn't end up in pin stripes

He is the best at the moment, but can he be the best for an entire season? His durability certainly is a question that can only be answered by playing a 152 or so games out of the 162 game season. If Josh can do that at the level he is at now, I would consider him the best in the game. You can't help but pull for the guy, I think all of us can relate to being down and out at one point after experiencing success, then rising up again to continually battle our every day demons.
