Is Nascar's TRACKPASS worth the money?

Just wondering, cause I'm thinking about getting it. Let me know your opinions on it.

Depends on what you want it for.

If you need or want the Racecast feature for up to the minute timing and scoring on practice sessions and during the race, or the ability to listen to a teams radio conversations throughout the race it probably is.

If waiting a short period of time for the times is no problem, they are available very quickly following the sessions. Qualifying results are at this point available live without charge on the net. Radio and TV do a better job of covering the race progress, but you don't get constant lap times and intervals nor radio comms.

The access to multimedia features available at NOL only with Trackcast is strictly your call.

So your saying If I want it for the race coverage, in-car audio, and stuff like that.. its worth the money?

Yep

But the race coverage as far as timing and scoring is hard to use my its lonesome, you can hook up to the radio broadcast but then the in car radio stuff gets walked on, if ya see what I mean.

Now if you can watch the race on TV and follow the racecast and in car radio on the puter and get yourself into the chat room here during the race you got the world by the tail!

To me it is, and I signed up in Feb., before the 500.
I'll possibly reconsider in 2003 when it's time to renew, depending on the price.
But to sign up just for the last few races isn't worth it at this point unless you REALLY want to!!!

PURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I thought it was a monthly fee, has that changed?

All I want it for is racecast for practices, quals, and the in car audio. So with that, is it worth it?

All I'm gonna do is get it for a month until next year, which is only $4.95.

For five bucks unless you're really strapped for cash, how wrong can you go?

At least you'll be able to decide for yourself how much you like it. Some folks love it.

I got the "season pass" for only $19.95 back in Feb. No monthly fee back then.
I don't know if it will be offered next season.

Even so, if one wants to just do 2 months, I think it's worth it.

But I still think it's Na$ca$h.con

Personal opinions count?

It was a poor product when offered in an adveriser supported format, and from what I understand the quality of the product has not improved.

Add in the GUID (spyware) that RealOne inserts in your machine and without which the player will not work, and it becomes a matter of principle for me and I refuse to get anywhere close to it.

GUID....Globally Unique Identifier. A controversial 16-byte number generated by Microsoft programs that uniquely identifies a network or user or computer or document.

They were sued for selling the info before and settled out of court and promised not to do it again to avoid an even larger settlement. The STILL share the info with their advertising partners, and it is my best guess that any one of us could become an ad partner for the right amount of cash.

It is a matter of personal privacy and prinicple to me.

is that like being identified as 71fan??

I have racecast!

I have it bad!

& chatting during the race with everything going at one time is a blast!

incar radio , timing&scoring , racing-forum chatroom , TV and another chatroom I like

No it's not eeff

When you buy in to RealOne, all sorts of personal info is submitted. A GUID comes with the player. That GUID is a personal identifier and unlike a normal cookie that GUID is a "back-office program" that tracks your movements on the net every time you are connected.

They've given you a number. That number knows your name. The GUID signals it's data base every time you click. Doesn't matter if you have the RealOne player open or not. The GUID still signals it's database concerning your movements.
