Jr signed with Hendricks 17 years ago

Dale Jr: I had been fortunate enough to be invited on a trip around the Midwest to visit some dirt tracks with Kenny Schrader We were to end up in Topeka Kansas where Kenny was going to race with Rick Hendricks and my dad and others in an ARCA race. So I’m runnin’ around with Schrader the whole week. When we get to Topeka, it was the first time I’d ever met Rick. As he was introduced to me, he asked, “Do you have a contract to drive for anybody?” I wasn’t even racin’ back then so I thought it was a joke. But he wrote one down on a napkin and I signed it. I figured even if it was a joke, I’d better sign it because he might come and ask me one day. We were just jokin’ around…but obviously he was a pretty smart businessman. That was in 1991

Rick Hendricks added: The first thing I was concerned about was how Dale let him go to the Midwest with Schrader. So I felt like I needed to protect him a little bit.. He was only 15. But years later my son Ricky ran his first Busch race at Myrtle Beach. At the drivers meeting I ended up standing next to Jr. I said “Remember you signed a contract with me?” and he said “I thought you’d forgot about that.” I told him no I didn’t forget it I was just scared of his daddy so I wasn’t going to enforce it. But then he said he wanted a Corvette for all of his team members. I told him that was no problem

Well I guess if you believe them it is, because they told that during the press conference yesterday. Personally I wasn't there but I think they're telling the truth. lol

I heard that story yesterday out of both Junior and Rick, so I guess it is true.

What I'd really love to hear are the stories about what Dale and Schrader did while running around together. LOL

I did not know they talked about it yesterday, i did not see it on tv.

I dont know if i want to know what Schrader and Dale got in to....lol...

Earnhardt said yesterday that is was true.

I don't believe a word Rick Hendrick utters after him saying "there is no room at the inn" for Earnhardt and guess what

You mean just like Rusty swearing up and down he had no clue who Roger was talking to, only to find out he'd had several conversatins with Kurt?

Or both Roger and Rusty swearing alligence to Ford and never would swithch Mfg, them BOOM! they switched.
Remember Roger just gave almost the same speach about switching to Toyota.

At the time that those words were spoken, it was the truth. Kyle Busch and Rick Hendrick were in discussion about his contract extension. Kyle decided otherwise and he and Hendrick agreed to split amicably at the end of this year making way for Jr. to come on board. Even if it wasn't the truth at the time (which I doubt) what difference does it make???? Kyle is happy, Jr. is happy and so is Hendrick. I don't think they really care what you or I think. ;)

But either way it's my opinion.:)

Not according to Kyle Busch on Dave Moody's Sirius Radio Show or NASCAR Now show, he claimes he was totally blindsided and had no idea this was coming. That he had not talked to other team owners and had NO offers on the table.

WOW!!!
Maybe his tantrums just got him in trouble.

Actually, it's Kyle I don't believe. His statements don't even match his own agents statements on what was going on, or is he so far in the dark he has no clue?
I think his agent was trying to (do what would amount to armed robbery) hold up Mr H for the most $$$$ and it burned him. Mr H said fine you can have your release and went about making other plans.

I guess Kurt and Kyle are each others agents.:D
