Not When Nascar Beat the NFL in Ratings when Tony Stewart is Beating on Kevin Harvick for the Title next Fall!
 
I wonder how many fans will tune off of NASCAR because of this?

At least NASCAR's gonna go by a cut-off number of set points for qualifying drivers for the race for the Cup,instead of a certain number of cars,that's good IMO,am also glad to see that extra points will be awarded each race winner,that's as it should be,no more ties with the 2nd place finisher in total points for any given race.No points turned back to zero is also good.I still think the NFL will win the ratings battle regardless :eek:
 
I think it is a pretty good idea actually. I know I am in the minority on this, but I do.

It will definitely make it more exciting over the last 10 weeks.
 
All for the sake of what??? $$$$ or not rewarding consistency or screw the teams and fans??? :angry:
 
I think it's a lousy idea and it won't make a bit of difference in the ratings against the NFL. I also think that NASCAR is treading into territory first explored by college football. This system is going to lead to Co-Champions in the minds of many. Think the BCS is messed up? Just wait until November.

Lets say that Jr has a sizable lead after race 26. But after the playoffs Jeff Gordon is crowned Champion. You know that Jayski and other sites will keep track of the old points and if Jr would have won under the old system, there will be seriously mad fans. Some will proclaim Jr the true Champion.

NASCAR has indicated that this points system is a go for 2004, but..... if it doesn't work out, they'll go back to the old system in 2005. Sounds like 2004 could be a year with an * beside it in the record books.
 
I just have to wonder if this will affect the car count towards the last part of the season. I still think this is a bad idea and just a step in the wrong direction.
 
Maybe if the car count is too low in the last ten, I can enter the ol' '71 El Camino and make some fast cash.
 
I am not in favor of the new points system at all. Kinda ruins things. But I will still watch it and I am sure Nascar feels most people will and ever get new people to watch.

Dale Earnhardt would be turning over in his grave if he knew....

In a way it'll be good.. for NASCAR, but for us... we'll be seeing more cars at our local track than we will in the top series during the latter part of the year.
 
I do Believe that Nascar is not going to Zero the points after 26 races >> Each Driver/Car Owner will keep his points!
 
what is this world coming to ?? and yea guess we will have to start warin a bag over our heads if we actually go to a race, wouldn't want any one seeing us there would we
