Well its a long way to Richmond rollin NORTH on 95.
With a red head ridin shot-gun and a pistol by my side.
Tearin down that highway like a modern day Bonnie and Clyde.

We met at a truck stop, Johnson City Tennessee. I was gasin up my Firebird when
I heard her calling me. Said which way are you headed boy..Do you need some company.

She had me stoppin at a Quick Mart before we made it out of town. Next thing she was runnin at me tellin me to lay that hammer down cuz theres a man right behind me doing his best to slow me down.

Well we pulled up to a motel in the middle of the night. We were countin all
the money, smokin stolen Marlboro Lights. Lord we never saw em coming till they read us both our rights. (yeah) and its a long way to richmond rollin NORTH on 95.. With a sherriff right beside me, pistol pointed at my side

Such a dissapointing ending for this modern day Bonnie and Clyde.
(Yeah)
(shew)

So maybe Travis' map reading skills aren't to good. I95 to Richmond doesn't go near Johnson City, TN.

Hmmm, that's pretty odd. Truck stops are all over the country and to think that there isn't on in Johnson City. Maybe someone should invest in one there. :)

Actually, I found two on #11, both are Citgo stations.

If Wiki can be believed

The city is featured in a song and video by Travis Tritt called "Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde," although the line "rollin' north on 95," is fictionalized, as Interstate 81 and Interstate 26 intersect near Johnson City. As well, the lyrics, "We met at a truck stop, Johnson City Tennessee" are fictionalized as no truck stops exist within the boundaries of the City of Johnson City.

The city is also mentioned in a song by Old Crow Medicine Show called "Wagon Wheel", in the lyric "Walkin' to the south out of Roanoke, I caught a trucker out of Philly had a nice long toke. But he’s a heading west from the Cumberland Gap, to Johnson City, Tennessee." [1]. However, the song gets the geography wrong, as Johnson City is southeast of the Cumberland Gap.

On the Bristol Hwy out of JC. One of them does not stay open 24 hrs. I'm not sure about the other one. I had forgotten about those. THey are small ones.
tjk24, before you get to Wing Deer.

Neither one of them stay open 24 hours. I did a pretty extensive search and found nothing. Again, this might be a good investment idea for one of the bigger chains. Maybe there just isn't anything there in JC that people want to see or visit. Maybe they would rather roll on through to the next stop.

I have some Truck driver friends and am told that on non-race days they can hole up at the Bristol track.

Travis didn't write the song (I think).

I like that song quite a bit.

But it seems kind of pointless to be concerned about the geographical accuracy of this song. The song also says he drove the getaway car for an armed robbery and caught. I hardly think ware supposed to believe that this song is a true story, unless I am missing something.

You don't get it. LOL. A couple of us live right in the back door of Johnson City. That is what we were talking about. I like the song too.

Played that song rolling down to Richmond going southbound on 301.

Great song, awesome video!

Kasey Kahne's team should take a listen! :D

Kasey has enough troubles with those 3 wimmen chasing him all over the place. He doesn't need a further distraction of having one in the car with him leading him into trouble.
What he needs is to find a good girl who shares his interest in racing. Kick his brother out and move her in. Maybe someone like Erin... :D
