"It's Bristol Baby!"
If you close your eyes, you can almost smell the fresh Sunoco racing fuel and hot Good Year rubber! It's less than a week until the green flag flies over Bristol. Our good friends at WCYB-TV Newscenter 5, here in the Tri-Cities, produced a show called "It's Bristol Baby!" which aired this week throughout the region. The show features Dale Earnhardt Jr., George the Painter, Car of Tomorrow info and more. We want you to have a chance to see it before you roll into B-town. View "It's Bristol Baby!" now. Just seeing or hearing the name Bristol conjures up happy memories. I can smell the fumes right now.

Wish we ran Bristol ever other weekend. :)

:) Can you imagine...there'd be quite the demand for fabricators and hockey refs :)

Put 'em on skates after the race and let 'em go at it :D J/K

tkj, Thanks for the clip.

Very interesting piece.

Many years ago, I got my first ride in a racing simulator. As it happened, the wife and I were the only ones in for the ride at that time. We of course, sat in the front and was ready to rock and roll. They put us in three different racing situations. One was in a funny car at the drag strip. One was in a hydoplane racing on the water, and the other was in a stockcar racing at Bristol. What a blast that was. We started the race in the 3rd position, right behind Rick Mast in the #1 car. Don't remember who started on the outside front row, but as I said, our car was 3rd. We didn't know who was driving the car we were in until about five laps. As it turned out, our car nudged Mast out of the way and when the caution came out, we finally found out who we were riding with. It was the big #3 car. We were both Bill Elliott fans and died laughing when we found out who it was. What a feeling though, riding around Bristol with Dale Earnhardt. EEEEEHAAAWWWWWW!

Hey Buck I rode that simulator too. I remember when they used to have it at all the tracks we attended. It was a big red winston thingy on the outside.

Bingo, and it was at a time when people who worked for RJ Reynolds could get free tickets to The Winston at Charlotte. What a great ride that was.

I remember the whole section where I sit for The Winston used to be reserved for employee's of RJ Reynolds. I had the tickets before then and that is the only reason I got in that section.

I can't say if it was ever in Charlotte, but probably so. They took that simulator all over the place. I rode another one at Martinsville a few years later and they had three different scenarios. By that time, one could never find themselves alone in a simulator as the sport had grown by leaps and bounds. Also, when I first rode it, it was free.
