Local TV station and supermarkets have teamed up to help those less fortunate ,. Bins at the stores so you can donate non perishable food items. Last night the bins were only half full. When asked they said donations are slow and time is running out.
I was active in the Elks 35 years ago, rose up and became the ER, Exalted Ruler aka Grand Poobah of my lodge. I learned that people in 'good'' neighborhoods were hanging on by a thread and that was back then. From what I understand the list for those in need today far exceeds what it was back then.
Throw some canned vegetables or a box of instant tators in the bin next time, won't kill ya and it'll make you feel better.:)

I use the "points" I get on my credit cards. I convert them to a gift card, then use that gift card to buy supplies for the local food bank.

Also, don't forget the animal shelters. They always need a little extra.
