I think everyone already kinda knew, but RCR just made the official announcement. Looks like Luke Lambert will remain CC and Caterpillar stays on board as primary sponsor.

Unfortunately, this is the seedy side of the sport....No doubt Cat did this....Sucks to see Burton kicked to the curb in this fashion...I hope the buyout of the remaining 1 year of his contract was atleast somewhat substantial.....

At the beginning of the year I was saying Burton would be out, but people said Caterpillar was sticking with him.

I should have made that my bold prediction instead of some also ran winning 9 races!

Newman says Richard came to him Daytona 500 week to ask about 2014. Newman didnt want to look ahead at Daytona, preferring to concentrate on his No. 39 team at SHR. Clearly that changed after NH announcement.

Newman says his conversations with RC matured over time, and after Loudon, when told he wouldn't be back at SHR, conv's intensified.

I wouldn't feel to bad for him, he's made many millions of dollars he'll be just fine.

After that massive dump he took on his pitcrew during live tv, I'm sure some of the SHR guys will be saying "good riddance". I know I sure would be.

He probably won't have a pitcrew at RCR, he will have to get out and change the tires himself.

So Newman's old crew chief will be Kurt's I guess? Matt Borland/Kurt Bush. Hope that works out for all involved.

I remember a time when you were on Keselowski like SlicedBread22 on Logano. Borderline psychotic. Boy how things change.

I think when you made that prediction you were still riding your Kes high. Your judgement was clearly impaired at the time.

Now we will all find out that Fender and Slice are the same person.

So what does Jeff do now? He's got enough money to retire, but I don't see him leaving. And the plot thickens....

He becomes content with running 20th every week until he goes the way of Darrell Waltrip.

I'm trying to recall drivers who left the sport on their own terms. I think the vast majority are simply let go from their primary ride and start stepping down the ladder through lesser teams.

We've seen it all a hundred times before . Richard Petty fans , DW fans , Rusty Wallace fans ,Bill Elliott fans (me) , all waitin and hopin for that next win , that never came . Oh they ran competitive at times , but looking back , you can see where they peaked . Jeff Burton , Bobby Labonte , too. Nobody is saying Jeff Gordon wasn't great , isn't great , isn't still competative but maybe , ten years from now , we'll look back and say he peaked in 2012. I'm thinkin Tony did too. We'll see in ten years.
