IT'S SO HOT...

.....the birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.

.....the trees are whistling for the dogs.

......the best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.

.....hot water now comes out of both taps.

.....you can make sun tea instantly.

.....you learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron.

.....the temperature drops below 95 F and you feel a little chilly.

.....you discover that in August it only takes 2 fingers to steer your car.

.....you discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.

.....you actually burn your hand opening the car door.

..... you break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 a.m.

.....your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked

out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death?"

.....you realize that asphalt has a liquid state.

.....the potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is

pull one out and add butter.

.....farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them

from laying boiled eggs.

* STAY COOL! *

Yep --- discovered that this morning.

100* right now. Thank goodness the humidity is only 30% and the dewpoint is 61* --- otherwise I'd be sweating just thinking about walking outside.

Somebody smack the Prof will ya?

At 5:15 p.m. here in Winston Salem, it's 97 degrees, a degree down from the high so far. Only one day this month has the high been below 90 and three days of over 100. Now you say only three days! Remember, the record high for Winston Salem all time is only 103. However, upper 90's is nothing for here. Also, I believe that with all this hot weather, only three days has the record been broken and two of those day, only two, were the ones over or at 100.

BTW, in my line of work, I pay much more attention to the dew point than I do the temperature. Today's dew point was 57 and while that is low, at these temps, it's high and you will sweat quickly. I want to see the dew point below 30 and then I'll begin to feel comfortable.

Whew!

Man, it was hot today. But, was still hotter last week.

All we had to was drop a steak and it was grilled to perfection.

The tomatoes on my plants are small and are actually boiling inside. They aren't any good to eat.

Drum roll please.

The temperature outside, here, at this moment is ... A blistering 57°F. Someone fire up the AC, willya?

You'll all have to excuse me while I go strip down to shorts and a t-shirt.

How many spare bedrooms did you say you had? Come on everyone I think the professur is inviting us to COME ON UP.

Gawd....... I'm freezing! It's gone from being so hot and humid to 60 and windy. I can't believe how cold I am and I also can't believe come winter, I'll be praying for a day in the 60s and will think it's sooooooooo warm!!!! Don't feel too bad all of you suffering from the heat though. While we're supposed to have a cooler than normal weekend, the heat will continue to climb all of next week until we'll be blasting the AC again. ;)

Friends I had in Syracuse didn't even have AC, house or car. They said it never got really hot enough to justify the expense. That and they had a camp up in the mountains they'd go to nearly every weekend.

I like a little winter to bring the ducks down to the coast, but I definitely don't mind the heat. It's Texas...it's gonna be hot in the summer. I personally would rather have the 100's than sub-zero temps. IMO, there is something seriously wrong with being 60 degrees in mid-august...just aint right.

Around here the temps are not as bad as the humidity. That is what smothers you.

I'll give you guys a break today and not tell you that we're under 70°F again today .... and I'll just let you guys know that the lake is a cool 55°F, and the Smallies are biting something fierce. When they can fight off the perch for the hook.

Hey prof...I'll give you a daily weather update from south Texas in mid january...we'll see who's happier then !!:D

it feels pretty good around here too- a whopping 63 degrees and a cool breeze. I love Maryland.

Cypress, on OTC, there's a guy in Pheonix that does that all winter. Doesn't bother me none. As they say, you can always put another layer on, but you can only take so much off. I invested heavily in my cold weather gear ... much to the chagrin of many many geese. Probably as much as you've got invested in AC. My heavy coat (if I've lost enough weight to fit back into it) can't even be worn at temps over -10C or you'll overheat.

Prof. I haven't been to OTC in months...How is everything there?
23 straight days over 95* here and VERY LITLE RAIN!

You'll all be pleased to know that .... We're getting hit with the heat. Overnight forecast is 69°F ... feeling like 86°. Damn humidity is gonna be crippling. Friday's gonna be 80°, with the humidex pushing 100°. After the last couple of weeks ... this is gonna hurt bad.

100 degree heat index in canada??????

I agree with cypress, round christmas time we can post the temps of the moment.....

We are setting a record for the hottest August on record for the Greensboro area. Every day is in the high 90's or 100's. On top of that they put the city on mandatory water restrictions yesterday. the poor farmers fields are all drying up and dying. They will have a heck of a time this winter feeding the livestock.
