It's springtime, it's April, it's baseball season.

Thats a name change thats going to take getting used to. I guess I could just call them the Marlins lol like I always do. Its not like Tampa where I keep adding Devil on. And I can't wait for my confusion next year when the Astros move to the AL and I can't figure out why. Any after all this go Phillies.

Phuck Philly!

The baseball gods did, not Utley or Howard right now Howard may be out all year. I have a bad feeling for this year:(

But we're still better then Baltimore.

Well....even with a new name, new uni's and stadium the Marlins couldn't get it going...165 to go though

Opening Day of every baseball season is always a great thing. Even this year, when I know my beloved Cleveland Indians don't have much of a chance to make the playoffs, is always a reason for hope.

There is a thin line between hopeful and delusional.

Well the Phillies showed what we are Halladay throws 8 innings 2 hits Papelbon gets the save, offense puts up 1 run on 8 hits.

You guys are too young to know what good baseball is, except for what you may have read. :) Baseball was the greatest sport in the U.S. until the owners and players screwed it up royally and it will never recover.

Hell, it used to be worth the price of admission just to watch Mazerowski take infield practice. you ever watch Maz and Gene Alley play pepper before the game. Best combination ever in baseball.

No disrepect intended. But, I watched Omar Visquel (in my mind the greatest defensive shortstop ever) and, Hall Of Famer, Robbie Alomar play together for a few years and they were absolutely amazing. I have a hard time believing that there were ever two better defensive players on the same team at the same time.

That is what is fun about baseball, arguing about which player was best. They used to call him no-hands, he was so quick.
mazerowski holds the major league record for double plays by a second baseman.

1706 career (and this was in a career of 15 seasons basically)
161 single season
led league 8 times
Maz played with two pretty good shortstops....Dick Groat and Gene Alley.........groat was the better all-around player but I liked Alley for fielding.

Muggle, in my eyes, there is no one better than the Mick. Being from Oklahoma and having a mother that loved the Brooklyn Dodgers, I always loved to tweak her and say that Mickey was the best. Now I'm married to someone who thought that Maris was the best. Sheesh, what do the women know? :)

I agree. Mantle was a great ballplayer. If not for the constant injuries he would have records that would be unapproachable. the three best all-around outfielders were Mantle - Mays - Snider. I am on the side of many though thinking that Ted Williams was the best pure hitter. of course, my favorite was Roberto Clemente. he was, in my opinion, the greatest fielding outfielder, and no one, had a better throwing arm than Clemente.

The Orioles are in first place :) I wonder how long it will be before they fall to last place in the entire league. Peter Angelos sucks.

From WNST Sports Radio's Facebook:
The Baltimore Orioles are proudly offering "bacon on a stick" & "mac and cheese" at Oriole Park at Camden Yards this year along with another awful baseball team. Seems like one more way "kill off" more local baseball fans before the All-Star break with a heart attack? Who's setting menu over there -- Paula Deen or Georgia Angelos?

First 3 games at Ranger Stadium are standing room only.50,000 + per game.Wonder if that many will show up next weekend at TMS?

The Indians went into the off-season with two glaring needs. They needed run producing hitters at first base and in left field, and it would be great if at least one of them was right handed to offset the lefty dominated lineup they have. They didn't even bother to address the left field issue and they got us another lefty singles hitter to play first base in Kasey Kotchman(sp?). We needed another left handed hitting singles hitter like we needed a ticket price hike. They ended up handing the starting left field spot to Sandy, er Shelley, Duncan. He's an ok reserve player, but he strikes out way too much to play every day and he can't catch a cold. But other than that, he is perfect.

Amazingly enough, they are struggling to hit much at all in the first two games. Stevie Wonder could have seen that coming. They have wasted two really good starting pitching performances in the first two games games because they simply can't hit in the clutch. After Chris Perez blew a 3-run lead in the ninth in the opener they stranded the winning run at third with less than 2 outs TWICE! One of those times they had the bases loaded with one out. Toronto brought in an extra infielder and pulled one of the outfielders. The Jays had two outfielders left, playing in very shallow left center and right center. The Indians best hitter, and the guy who just signed a 2 year/$16.5 million contract, simply had to hit a normal fly ball to win the game, instead he pounded the first pitch he saw into the ground and right to the shortstop for a taylor made double play.
