Jack Daniel's Racing

So I got myself on the Jack Daniel's racing list and they send me little updates, etc. They sent me one raving about Clint and how well he did. So I just couldn't resist saying something and found the "contact us" link and sent them a little note about Clint not being in the car this year. I was so surprised when I got a personal response today! I never expect to hear back from organizations and even writers, etc., so I thought this was pretty cool!

Hello Sue,

Thanks for getting in touch. We're sorry you're disappointed in the decision made by Jack Daniel's and Richard Childress Racing to change drivers for the No. 07 car in 2009, but we appreciate your taking time to give us your feedback.

We have great respect for Richard Childress' advice concerning the driver of the Jack Daniel's No. 07 Chevrolet in 2009, and we're looking forward to our fifth season with his racing organization. We had a great run with Clint Bowyer and we're grateful for how he represented Jack Daniel's on and off the track, and we wish him the best.

Again, thanks for writing.

Regards,

John

Comments: I think it's terrible that Clint won't be in the Jack Daniels 07 simply because the cereal company doesn't want Casey Mears. Clint made that car one to look up and notice and fits so well with him. It's a shame he won't be driving it in 09. This car IS Clint and Clint IS this car. I like Casey OK, but he is more of a cereal car driver than a Jack Daniels driver. We want Clint!!

I think you ought to write John back to see about getting some free samples. Or, at least an invite to their Fall party. I used to get the invites and could never go as there was always a conflict on my schedule.

Really?? They do that?!! I know my son-in-law would sure appreciate the samples. I'm not much of a drinker anymore. :) I took a picture of Clint's merchandise hauler of the Jack Daniels logo just for him! Where are the parties at? Probably too far for me to attend, but it would be fun! :D

Well samples in the mail may be a bit to hope for. Tho I have been offered special pricing on buying a barrel. You get to go into their warehouse where the Master Distiller escorts you thru the warehouse to help you pick out your barrel. But, that is a lot of Jack Daniels. If I were much younger it might be more tempting.
Now as to the party, it's in October. It's really a BBQ invitational that takes place on their grounds in Lynchburg TN.

BP - YOU WERE RIGHT!!

Hey BP,

So I took your advice and wrote "John" back. I just checked my email and he wrote back again and I scored some JD racing gear! Wooo hooo!! Sometimes it really works to be a suck up! ROFL

Ok, here is the irony - I'm telling him all about my son-in-law loving JD, which he does, but then I go looking at my racing pics from last year and guess what? It was Robby Gordon's hauler and JIM BEAM that I took the picture of! Arrrgh!! Don't tell on me! LOL I could have sworn it was Clint's JD hauler since I know they drink Jack and Coke all the time.

Maybe this year if we keep being pen pals, I'll get invited to the fancy "meet the RCR drivers" which cost a good amount of $$ to get into last year, on the house. Now I sure wouldn't mind that. :) Yes, I did send him a response again. I might look stupid, but... what I'll do for racing stuff........  Well, I do have my limits. ROFL. :D

I have a new best friend and his name is John and he works at Jack Daniel's Racing/Distillery. Woo hoo! :beerbang:

Here's the latest. I'll try to switch it around so you can read it in order instead of the bottom first. :)

Hi John,

Thank you for getting in touch with me. I never really expected a personal response so I was quite impressed to get one!

I guess it's been hard for fans of Clint to know he won't be in your car and is also losing his whole crew to Casey. I think Casey is a great guy, but I think Clint is the better racer. I hope Richard is right in giving Casey a boost and not hurting Clint who was doing great for him. They're both stand up guys. Jeff Gordon is actually my favorite, but I really like Clint a lot and loved his car. I actually like quite a few drivers besides my favorite. It is possible!

When my daughter and myself were at the Watkins Glen race, she actually bought Jack Daniel's merchandise itself since JD is a favorite of her husband. I took a picture of the hauler to have your logo on it. We'll both be there again this August and I'm sure we'll do the same thing. So no matter who is in the car, we'll be buying something with Jack Daniels on it. I wish the best for Casey and thank you for sponsoring a sport I greatly enjoy.

Thanks again for your response. I really appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Sue

Sue,

Thanks for writing again. We sure appreciate your loyalty to Jack Daniel's Racing, and we're glad to know your son-in-law enjoys our Tennessee Whiskey!

We'll miss Clint as well in the Jack Daniel's car, but we are excited to have Casey Mears on board. We have all the confidence in Richard Childress Racing in helping Casey be successful, and of course, Clint and Casey will be RCR teammates.

Since you've taken the time to write, I am going to send you a few JD Racing items. We hope you'll continue to stay in touch.

Regards,

John

Got My Gifts from JD Racing!!

So there was a nice box waiting for me when I got home from Jack Daniel's Racing! Inside there was a cool looking black visor, a keychain, several patches, and a bar towel. Yep, John is my new best friend at Jack Daniel's Racing!! He told me to keep in touch so after thanking him for the gifts, I'll tell him I'm going to try to get that visor signed at The Glen. <hint hint!!> LOL What's really cool is there is no driver's name on any of it, just JACK DANIEL'S RACING Ole #7!!!

What's interesting is my niece told me she watched the Spring race at Talladega from pit row. She had a hot garage pass and got to hang out at the hauler with her friend from high school who is now Junior's "tire specialist" or "engineer" or something of that sort and all the rest of the "guys." He previously worked for RCR and actually got her pass from them. I'll be looking for him at the track, too. I know, I'm bad!!! LOL

Hey, you have to do what you have to do. Her favorite driver is Carl. :D

This is kind of a similar experience i had in Vegas a few years back. We were staying at The Monte Carlo, I'm getting off the elevator and i see Ray Evernham talking to a couple of guys near a coffe shop, hmmm i think maybe the crew guys and Kasey are staying here. I wanted to get Rays' autograph , but he seemed busy, so i just pointed him out to my buddy and we went about our buisness. Later that day we were coming back from the Busch race, kind of beat, wanting to just take a shower and crash. It turned out Kasey had a bad day....horrible pit stop and then a later brush with the wall pretty much hurt any chances for a good finish. I'm walking towards the elevator and i spot Kasey with his girlfriend about to get on the next elevator, walk up behind him, say something like: "tough day hope you do better tomorrow", he turns and just like i was a crew guy starts telling me what happened during the race. We get on the elevator together along with 2 other ladies, I ask him if he will sign my hat, he wips out his sharpie and gladly signs it, at this point the 2 other ladies in the elevator realize who he is. They start freaking....funniest thing i have ever seen, i thought Kasey was going to run through the elevator door.....lol. His girlfrioend is shooting him dirty looks, i'm laughing, we get off the elevator i thank him , tell him have a nice day, and go back to my room and tell my wife what just happened. She was on a different elevator and missed him.....she was so pissed!

That's a riot!!!! I can just see the girls starting to realize who he is and freaking and him wanted to jump through the elevator door!!!!! What an awesome experience!!

Last year I missed Richard Childress by 10 ft. ..sort of. My daughter is having fits since for one, we didn't have pit passes and I had no idea where we were going and we ended up on pit road. No one checked nor stopped us. She's telling me I better not head down the line because she's going to leave me since she's starving and HAS to get something to eat, but it had to be her stupid turkey sandwich in the car. Nothing I could buy her would do! Anyway, the cars are going through inspection and people are gathered at the opening to take pictures and see the cars come out on the other side of this small road that leads to the pits/garage. My daughter is on the other side and is trying to get me to hurry up and come on. Of course, I'm trying to take pictures since no one was kicking us out! LOL I turn around and I see this guy I recognize, but I'm blanking at the moment. By the time I cross, he's started to walk away. I realize it was Richard and my daughter starts grouching at me that if I had come when she called me, he was shaking each person's had that went by and thanked them for coming. Oh well.. maybe my new buddy John can get me an introduction! :)

I have to say, I am impressed with Jack Daniels Racing, esp. in today's economic atmosphere. Most times you're lucky to even get a response from anyone and this guy has gone above and beyond anything I ever expected. I still wish Clint was in the car, but there's going to be so many changes in drivers/cars I'm going to need a cheat sheet anyway!

Kasey...... woo hoooooo... Now I sure wouldn't mind ending up on an elevator with him. I don't blame your wife for being pissed. :D

Hey Sue, I think that is really cool thay he replied to you again ...aaaaand that he sent you some JD racing gear!! Way to go!

Yeh Kasey was accomodating to the other 2 ladies on the elevator, he signed one ladys' arm and the other one had a program he signed. I thought he was a pretty cool dude for a young gun. He is bigger in person too, thought he was really short, but almost my height 5'11".

Thanks everyone! I think it's really cool they did that, too! My new best friend John - we're going to be pen pals. :D I'll definitely be scoping out RCR teams this summer. Is it bad that I'd still rather have Clint sign my visor than Casey? Ok, I'll go for both of them signing it. Who am I kidding? I'll be thrilled to get any of them to sign it!!!

The only driver I got last summer was Michael McDowell. Granted he was very nice and all, but people weren't too happy with him with what happened during the race! Brian Vickers had to hurry and get to the track and I just missed A.J. I could have gotten in line for Kurt Bush and Boris, but I figured the lines were already long enough and settled for pictures instead. I'm just praying we have no family emergencies and we actually get to go for the whole weekend, not just race day. That really limited what we got to do. Plus, I actually bought cold pit passes so we plan on heading there instead of ending up there because I didn't know where I was going and didn't get kicked out. LOL :)

Funny, I heard Kasey is really small in person from a guy who is good friends with his brother. Although this guy while not very tall, is a lot bigger than Kasey. ;)

Thats cool that you got all that swag from Jack Daniels, I've found in the past if the drivers have the time they are usually very cordial to the fans. I thought Kasey was only about 5'5" or so, but I'd say he was about 5'9". His website lists him at that and around 145, need to pump a little iron there Kasey....lol.

Yeah, he just has to make sure he's not pumping another security guard. heh heh :owquitit: :boxing: :lol2: :lol2:

PS - My new BFF John wrote back again and was happy I got the stuff, hopes I get to meet the drivers, and to keep in touch. He also said a special hello to my son-in-law who likes that Tennessee Whiskey!! LOL pssssssssst... John, you can help me get some meets and greets. Yeah, I'll be keeping in touch! :D
