This is nascar...they'd never think about that. You used to hear teams all the time restort to the "roof for tight, A pillar for loose" method when they lost comms.
 
I might be wrong here, but I do believe that all teams are required to have radios because all crew chiefs must be able to monitor NASCAR. This is how they tell the drivers where to line up after cautions. NASCAR also can warn a team for various reasons as well.
