I was thinking with Chip Ganassi now owning the 1 car, with his and Jamie McMurry's history, Is it possible that Jamie is in danger of loosing his ride?

If he performs he's in, if he don't he's out, It's a business, that's my opinion anyway

Every driver is in danger of losing their ride if they don't produce good results.

Wait... almost every driver. :)

That is true. I was thinking more along the lines that while Teresa was involved that she would have at least had a little say in what went on, now shes gone Chip has the power to do as he wishes, or does Felix Sabatas (SP?) have some say in it as well?

McMurray showed some signs of life last year, getting a win and a decent 15th place finish in the final standings after having disastrous seasons in 2011 and 2012. His best opportunity to win will probably remain on the plate tracks (4 of his 7 career wins have come at Daytona or Talladega). I've always liked McMurray and I hope he continues to improve.

Chip has always ran the team since he merged with DEI. This is and has always been Chip's organization. Chip was the one who brought Jaime back, and only way Jaime leaves is if he doesn't perform, but that goes with every driver. Jaime wasn't in the 1 because of Teresa.

At this point, if Chip DID want to fire Jamie, who's available to replace him?

That's good, ,i was wondering is all

Jamie is a pretty good driver. Ganassi got behind and it showed with both teams. They started catching up last year and you could see the improvement in the second half of the season. I think the addition of Larson will help McMurray this year.

I wouldn't mind seeing McMurray be in contention more often and maybe even win a couple of races this year.

I think Mcmurray was on the hot seat but that win at Talladega really helped his cause.

After Chip bailed on the ECR engines and they started running the Hendrick engines, the improvement was immediate on both teams (1&42). Wether or not they can take the next step remains to be seen. Perhaps they can win another plate race, but I still don't think their equipment and resources are on par with some of the bigger teams.

Chassis appear to be a problem also, maybe they are fixed now :idunno:

Hard to say really, but there's no question they're lacking some ingredients for prolonged success. Jamie is such a streaky driver, he might get a top 5 one week and the next week he'll finish 25th. With a new CC for 2014 I don't expect him to fair as well as he did in 2013.

When the jet drier incident happened the 1 and the 42 both suffered major failures due to broken suspension components in the same race. They had other issues that year as well. Occasionally one of the teams would get lucky and provide their driver with a competitive car, hence the hot and cold results from both cars IMO

People have always sold their cars short. McMurray kept winning crown jewel races a couple years ago. Montoya made the chase. These cars aren't that far off.

Welcome to the forum Chevymaster3 . Jamie has a pretty fair record . Chip would have to find a top ten driver replacement , who is a free agent and is willing to switch . I don't see a lot of them out there .

Go back to sleep Ted.

McMurray is a solid good but not great driver. He might not be Jimmie Johnson, but he was 7 wins, and a Daytona 500 and Brickyard trophy. 90% of drivers out there would kill for that resume. And he's my pick for the Unlimited by the way ;)

They went into a lull during 2011-2012 though. The move to HMS power in 2013 helped a lot.

Jamie will be fine, especially if he performs as well as he did last year.
