While some questioned McMurray's qualifications to move up to WC with the Ganassi operation when it was first announced, it would appear that his on track performance to date is more than satisfactory.
Excellent job in qualifying yesterday, without the stunning run of some other rookie he might well have captured the pole.
Confidence is absolutely a factor with all of these drivers. Jamie's seems to have leaped many fold with his promotion to WC. This is evidenced by the change in his BGN efforts since the announcement by team Ganassi. Check that out before thinking it's all the car.
Next year will prove very interesting as he moves to a totally new team. Will the results resemble those of the #40 or lean more to those of the #41. Rumor has it that Chip and company have selected the crew chief for this team next year. The announcement should be coming soon. The only hint I heard is that they are currently employed by another team and that the announcement is being held because the current employer is unaware.
