Jamie Who?????

Don't know, but I know his truck and busch rides never gave him anything, that's why we are all in shock.

I'm seeing a trend in Busch drivers with mediocre backgrounds getting hired with big-name teams and running well. AKA Johnson, Newman, and McMurray. Is this trend going to continue?

Ciggie,

When's it going to be my turn to get a shot in a Cup car? It seems like everyone is getting one now-a-days and running well, why can can't I get a chance?

:D

I think BP was right last week when he said he could do the same thing that Jimmie Johnson did. Go un noticed in the BGN then come to cup and run very well. I wounder IF Jamie can run good enought to win the 40 car the owners championship!!

That sure would be something PettyBenson, But I dont think it will happen. Just not enough races left, and I dont think that the 40 will finish well enough for it to happen, but ya never know...

When MacMurray stepped into that 41 truck and debuted in CTS he was VERY impressive and I am sure that is not easy to do with an unsponsored team. His debut in Busch was equally impressive and now this for his 2nd race in Cup! Dang good kid and real good driver. I love his enthusiam and I hope for the best for him this year and next!

I'm not so sure about how impressive his career has been in the CTS and BGN series.

In CTS, he used to make some of the stupidest racing moves, one that they once called the McMurray move (except it was so dumb, they never got to use it again). McMurray was coming up on two trucks that were racing side-by side, and McMurray was racing on the top. Going into the turn, McMurray held on the gas and shot on the bottom of the track onto the apron to try and pass the other two trucks! He of course immediately shot right back up the track and right into the two trucks on his outside!!! The other two trucks hit eachother and the one went into the wall, but he was able to go on. Looked an awful lot like what Todd Bodine did tonight in the Cup race, except McMurray was able to keep it straight.

In BGN, McMurray was never that impressive until this season, where he got a 2nd place finish on fuel strategy, and then a second 2nd place finish that he actually earned.

That's been McMurray's career up to this Cup win. Now don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with him. He'a talented and very friendly driver. It's just you wouldn't know how well he could run until you put the right equpment under him. To say he was impressive in CTS and BGN is the overstatement of the century.

Tony is another one that didn't do squat in Busch.
Look at him now. He squats regularly.

Very good point RO!! It's driver AND team.........not driver OR team!! It's the combination......neither could do "squat" without the other.:D

From what I saw, he almost got snookered by traffic a few times. Did see him hold on to the lead during one particular hard charge by Labonte, and he used another car for a pick another time. It's not like this kid doesn't have at least some idea of what he is doing. That he didn't crumple with Labonte in his mirror sez more for him than I ever could.

I think what all the youngins are doing is proving once and for all that it's way more the car than it is the driver when it comes to the cookie cutter race tracks. Lets see what they got on the shorts before we start elevating them to imortallity.

If you reread my post I certainly said that his "debut" into both of those series was impressive and in fact they were. I watched him closely in both of those first appearances and he transitioned well, stayed out of trouble and ran very competitively. No driving around trying to stay out of the way for him! He has shown that he adapts well, he learns fast and he surely has the desire! I think I just might pick him for ROTY next year.

McMurray will be with a whole new team next year. I'll go with Biffle for '03 ROTY.
