Glad he's finally coming to the realization that we all already knew.
It's really sad to have witnessed that organizations demise in a relatively short period of time, in NASCAR years.
Flashback to September 10, 2005. Roush places five cars in the ten car Chase field.
Roush Racing having five of the ten cars in the 2005 Chase, has resulted in a NASCAR rule change limiting teams to four cars in 2006.
My how times are a changing.
The question will be if they can actually sell the team or if it gets "merged" into another team. Those mergers usually end up with the team assets getting dissolved.

I believe 2010 was the first year for the four-team rule, as Roush still had 5 full-time drivers in 2009 (Kenseth, Edwards, Biffle, McMurray, and Ragan). Roush axed McMurray's team for 2010 to comply with the rule. That was before my time as a fan (I started following closely in 2010) but to have half the Chase Field in your stable is quite impressive. So the following season is when the four team limit was instituted?
Where'd you hear it? Doug, Robert, or both? It would be a logical extension of the existing Roush-Yates engine operation, but I dunno if either are interested in getting back into the team ownership business.Heard that Yates will take over
Was a rumor several years ago. May or may not be true.Where'd you hear it? Doug, Robert, or both? It would be a logical extension of the existing Roush-Yates engine operation, but I dunno if either are interested in getting back into the team ownership business.
I heard Roush is going to be driving the #5 car in 2018.Was a rumor several years ago. May or may not be true.
If it was a rumor, it must be true, especially if it was on Twitter...Was a rumor several years ago. May or may not be true.
Geez, I thought you meant sometime this year or during the off-season.Was a rumor several years ago. May or may not be true.

I heard Washington was going to pull the troops south out of Valley Forge; I hope the Brits don't hear about it and cross the river behind him.

I say it is long overdue and good riddance, cya have fun in retirement. Not sure how I feel about this news. On one hand, it sucks to see a long-time (mostly) successful owner close to riding into the sunset. On the other hand, good riddance. I have heard nothing but bad things about Roush from the people I know who have met him.
Agreed but it is time for him to get out.^ I agree. Good post. It's surprising how many people are eager to thumb their nose at Jack. I guess that is a prediction for the treatment Rick Hendrick or Joe Gibbs will get if they ever suffer a dry spell in their win stats.
I doubt they will because they have been pretty beloved and really were not part of their teams. Roush built his engines, tuned them on race day, worked on the car, and helped decide on strategy during races. He also spoke for his teams and Ford during the whining days when NASCAR played with specific rules for manufacturers. Because he was so involved and vocal, the people who's teams he thumped on and competed with don't like him. Gibbs is just an owner and stays out of the fray while Hendrick is a felon but his people love him.^ I agree. Good post. It's surprising how many people are eager to thumb their nose at Jack. I think that's why Keselowski ended up going to Penske. There was no room at the inn for him at HMS.Roush was allowed to keep 5 for a year... or 2? But the rest of the teams were limited to 4.

That was Earnhardt supposedly. Obviously there was room when the felon made it. Keselowski went to Penske because Hendrick saw Martin still had value in the 5. He made the "I'll know where to find him" when he had an open ride comment then.Exactly
I forgot about Mark Martin. He had an optional year and he took it.. so there was no room at the inn for Kes. 4 car rule. That was Earnhardt supposedly.
