Mayfield Out? AND Ray Evernham may be in the market for a new driver, if Jeremy Mayfield leaves [the #19 car]. Evernham and other Dodge team owners have been under heavy pressure from Dodge executives to improve performance.(Winston Salem Journal) AND being told by source Mayfield will leave the #19 team, no idea where he goes, and who goes into the #19? would imagine a young gun of some caliber

I've expected Mayfield to be gone after this year since the year started. There's no way you can perform that bad each week when you're sponsored by the manufactor of the car you're driving.

Ya know, its not at all Mayfields fault, its simply the chemistry and the caliber of that team. Back in the days that he was driving for Penske, he was competitive in nearly every race. But when he signed on with Ray, things went wayy downhill. Ray can do whatever he wants, but I can guarentee that he won't be seeing any better results from that team in the near future...

I respectfully disagree. The #19 car started with Atwood behind the wheel. Evernham moved to quickly and jumped at Mayfield, who hasnt done any better, but hasnt done any worse.

Its already been two years and it has been more than enough time to get the chemistry that is needed with Mayfield, problem is Mayfield is quite a hard driver to work with from reports from the garage since he began in this series.

Look at the #12 team, which is essentially the same as what Mayfield had, and Newman has taken this team to a whole new level that Mayfield could not.

I think the common denominator here is Mayfield.

I would pretty much agree with Robby. Mayfield had problems at Penske and things haven't really gone better at Rays. I still believe that the problems associated with firing Casey and hiring Mayfield hurt the 19 team. For whatever reason it was to hire Mayfield I think Ray would have been better off to stay with Casey like he originally said he would do.

Ray screwed up big time when he let Casey go, he and Sammy were finally getting things together.

I personaly don't think Jeremy will be around for all of "04" if he makes it that long.

Any ways, there was rumors that Brendan Gaughan from the CTS series was going to go to Nextel Cup with Evernham Motorsports...can't wait to see.
