Jean-Pierre was the first driver to compete in an F1 race with a turbocharged engine.
He won two races on his F1 career, the win at Dijon in 1979 was also the first one for a turbo-engined car.

Sad to hear. He had such a classic French name and I remember the days when he drove a Renault F1 turbo and all the problems they kept having. Good for him to get that first win for them.

I always want to respect the drivers especially the older ones.
But the classic name is one of the first things things that stuck with me as well.
In any case, much respect for all that he accomplished as well much respect for being a winner when the cars where more of a beast
