Gordon to use holograms to authenticate signature: #24-Jeff Gordon will begin using sequentially numbered holograms to authenticate his signature on collector's items and merchandise. John Bickford, the vice president and general manager of Jeff Gordon Inc., said the idea originated after the company that oversees Gordon's business interests discovered many forgeries on eBay. "We felt we had a responsibility to the fan to do all we could to protect them," said Bickford, who estimated JGI spent more than $50,000 on development. "Hopefully other athletes will see the value in this, and they'll begin to use a similar process. I anticipate I'll be getting calls from business agents of people like Barry Bonds or A-Rod." The hologram will make its debut Friday during the For Race Fans Only program on QVC. Within a few months, fans will be able to register the items at jeffgordon.com.(USA Today)
