This caught my eye, she bought the tires? They're not cheap and if the owner pulled her before the start...scumbag comes to my mind.

"Cobb detailed in a media gathering during the Scotts EZ Seed 300 that her company, Jennifer Jo Cobb Racing (JJCR), had purchased tires for today’s event. Despite that fact and an agreement between Cobb, Russell and 2nd Chance Motorsports, Cobb was not only asked to park her machine after a couple laps, but that she would not be driving the car in the next NASCAR Nationwide Series event (Royal Purple 300) at Auto Club Speedway next weekend"

and

" As the owner of this team he has the right to ask NASCAR to black flag me and said that he would do so. So after thinking about it for several minutes because I didn’t have many, I tried to come up with a solution for him and there was also rumblings around town that he was going to surprise me and take me out of the car in California."

I thought you had to have a valid reason for throwing the black flag? The way this driver switch was done has me puzzled too.

It's gotta be very frustrating being on the fringe of this sport - seeing your dream out there but still being so far. Old vets like Morgan and Nemecheck are the kind of folks who can handle the start and park/fill out the field routine...and likely even make a nice living from it. Still, it has to be very difficult and frustrating for someone in Jen-Jo's position.

I just wish she hadn't played the God card in the interview I saw "God made me a race driver".

I'll bet you see her in a KHI truck/car soon....If Delana has anything to say about it....

She can drive for me anytime.\Met her at Loudon last September, and she is truly a genuine nice person.

It's just my personal opinion but...

As far as the owner goes, what would you expect from a guy who is just playing the system, doing the S&P fiasco? This isn't local stuff; it's the big leagues and you either come to play or you stay home. I have zero pity for a S&P'er who takes a starting spot when another driver, who might be depended upon to drive the entire race might have to load up and go home.

Personally I find it kind of refreshing to see a driver with gonads, even if her plumbing isn't actually designed for it. There are some drivers over in Cup who should be so gutsy.

I agree. It is such a shame that Jennifer was forced to do what she did.

I couldn't agree with that more if I wrote it myself. Those S&P owners are thieves. They show up and take money they didn't do anything to earn.

I just wish she hadn't played the God card in the interview I saw "God made me a race driver".

Ditto, she mentioned that a bunch of times during the tv interview and there was no reason for it.

"God has giving me the opportunity to race in NASCAR" "I thank God he gave me the strength to walk away"

I'm not a fan of her but it was a sh*tty situation for her and I think she did the right thing. She will wind up with a different team soon enough.

To be fair...while NASCAR won't likely admit it...they are in cahoots to have a full field every race.

My intent is not to disagree with you fellows or start a religious debate as this is not the place for it, however...

McMurray, Bayne, Waltrip and various others do the same. Some guys race in the name of God so it didn't really surprise or bother me.

I'm in no way, shape or form a religious person but do realize that some people gain strength through their spiritual believes so I suppose that's what was keeping her poised - I'm not so sure I could've done the same.

i won't say it doesn't bother me but it happens in all sports and all professions. people can believe, or not, whatever they want. there's no reason for them to hide their beliefs if they choose to show them.

Yep, that's why they're not doing anything to stop it.

It's part of the T.V. contract...To get the full amount of $$$$....They are required to start a full field....

Someone else mentioned this a while back. Can you provide a source to authenticate this?

They could still handle it better than they do. They could say you have to run x amount of laps or you get no money. They could also say, after 1 year of doing this you have to run at least half of the race or you get no money. I don't think an owner should be allowed to just S&P every race they run for years.

I don't believe the details of the TV contract are public but this is the kind of silly thing the geniuses in Daytona Beach would probably sign off on.

But, I doubt if it's there. I think it's more of the case of NA__AR feels that the precedent has been set at 43 since the mid-90's (in Cup and Cup Lite) and any lesser number of starters would show a problem on NA__AR's part. (As if it weren't already pretty easy to see?)

WOW!

From Jen Jo Cobb on Twitter:

Jennifer Jo Cobb (jenjocobb) Headed 2 @RickWareRacing 2 get fitted into Carl Long's seat since Mr. Russell won't return mine. Sad since it is a safety issue :( #movingon

Rick Russell sure is looking like the biggest douchebag in all of sports right now. Pretty tough to outperform Chad Johnson,Tiger Woods, LeBron James and all of the NFL in that category.

By the way, as mentioned in her tweet, Jen will be racing for Rick Ware Racing at Southern California.

I'll be rooting for JJC and Timmy Hill, both under the RWR banner.

I read somewhere other drivers told her she should have done that, the only thing is do you want to risk hurting yourself for revenge?
"Revenge is a dish best served cold" Khan Noonian Singh,The Wrath Of Khan.
Or,William Shakespere,for all you purists.

Actually, for we purists, it was French writer, Marie Joseph Eugene Sue who first wrote the proverb, not The Bard, or as some may think, Francis Bacon. Hamlet was full of good revenge quotes but I don't think the quote you made was one of them. But, I admit that it's been awhile since I've read ol' Willie.

I stand corrected.
My retort was meant as a tongue in cheek sort of jab.In the "Purest of ways"
But Khan,The Absolute Ruler Of One Third Of The Earth, did in fact utter those same words...
"Admiral Kirk. Admiral......"

OK, that's it. We're gonna hafta take away some NASCAR fan/redneck points away for that one...:D

Johnny Cash did

"My name is Sue how do you do!!" lol

hear that in the bar all the time.

Where was Cobbs racing morals i.e. "I am not a start and park driver" been in the past? She did a S & P in ARCA in if I remember correctly Andy Belmont equipment with James Hyltons back up number at Kansas in '09. Some of her other starts in different series where she did not crash the first few laps are also suspect. Likely parts of this story that will never be told although those media sources who claim too be in the know are far from it. She would have had to have known that the owner was down to 1 car and had to have it for next week. For her to walk away was nothng more than a 3 year old throwng a tantrum. This was an event she staged for the media just too get her name out there and some sympathy. She should have made the start then proceeded with litigation against the owner.

I do not agree with the S & P teams that do it on a weekly basis but it is a business decision. Blame the sanctioning bodies for allowing it. The owners/drivers are just taking advantage of an open market that allows it.

As far as Cobbs new stint as a driver du jour at RWR enjoy it while it lasts. Tear up the equipment and there is a line behind you for the seat at next event.

I was in the truck garage at Daytona. I was talking with an owner/driver that sold his # from last season but attempted Daytona and has now dropped of the truck entry list told me that more than a few of the NASCAR brass int he truck series told him to get a Nationwide car together and go show up at Phoenix/Vegas and beyond.

Of course NASCAR is in on it.

I'll give an "Amen" to all of the above. Well put.

LOL!!! I stand so chastised, but where is it written that an 'ol feller like myself can't like fast cars and good hard stock car and sprint car racing and NOT also love literature and the classics?

As Jean Giraudoux once wrote, "There are no elements so diverse that they cannot be joined in the heart of a man." :)

Which, alone, is laughable. There's no point to that, what's the pay for that, a partial refund of your entry fee?

How depressing do you think it is for those S&P drivers. Not the scum owner but the drivers. They have to travel around the country just to run a few laps and call it a day. I'd rather just retire if that's all I could get.
