Mayfield, Stewart fined $5,000 for language

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- NASCAR officials have fined NASCAR Winston Cup Series drivers Jeremy Mayfield and Tony Stewart $5,000 for use of inappropriate language during the telecast of Sunday's MBNA America 400 at Dover International Speedway.


Mayfield, driver of the No. 19 Dodge, was penalized under Section 12-4-A in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series rule book: "Actions detrimental to stock car racing. Improper use of language."

Stewart, driver of the No. 20 Chevrolet, was penalized under Section 12-4-A in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series rule book: "Actions detrimental to stock car racing. Improper use of language."
 
Jeremy was really hot during the interview, and yet somehow his language didn't seem offensive coming from his mouth!

It actually made me laught when I heard it! I guess I just had a hard time taking him so seriously after relatively clean 2nd place finish.

Ive honestly never seen someone so upset after finishing 2nd.

Right on.

No offense to Jeremy or anything but the way his season has been he should be a little more greatful for finishing up front.
 
While I cuss worse than a sailor, and that word doesn't offend me, all drivers need to watch their language...after all, they are on TV in prime time and kids watch too.
 
you know they say **** and they get fined but you watch wrestling and they say words like Dickk and pusssy where do people draw the line Im so confused
