Mayfield, Stewart fined $5,000 for language

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- NASCAR officials have fined NASCAR Winston Cup Series drivers Jeremy Mayfield and Tony Stewart $5,000 for use of inappropriate language during the telecast of Sunday's MBNA America 400 at Dover International Speedway.
Mayfield, driver of the No. 19 Dodge, was penalized under Section 12-4-A in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series rule book: "Actions detrimental to stock car racing. Improper use of language."
Stewart, driver of the No. 20 Chevrolet, was penalized under Section 12-4-A in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series rule book: "Actions detrimental to stock car racing. Improper use of language."
