What ever happened to him? He was Bill Elliotts team mate there for a while at EMS back in 2002-03 Im pretty sure. I never thought he was doped up back then but what do I know. I honestly thought the France mafia may have set him up knowing them but it appears from what I remember he was caught with meth in his house? Whats he doing now and has he been to court for the stolen stuff and what not?

Who knows and who really cares about that trainwreck.

Last article of him I read was about him begging Brian France to be let back into NASCAR while on a consference call. lol

I honestly don't know how a fan of this (or any sport ) could believe that one of the sport's leaders would want to bring a drug scandal into the sport .

Mayfield is just an ass with a big mouth. He didn't get along with Penske, he didn't get along with Evernham, then he got in trouble and threw out slander against his stepmom, other drivers and Brian France. When his back is up against the wall, he runs his mouth and gets himself into a deeper hole. It looked like he had potential at one time but just kept creating his own worst enemies. Have fun in jail, a**hole.

Really?

Have you not noticed the attention being deluged on this royal baby and you still question the human capacity for stupidity?

Come on, Ted, drink your morning coffee and come around a bit ;)

There's a Royal baby ? Darrell's ?

Thanks for that link. Yeah, he is done in cup racing. Wonder what its like to go from making millions per year to just being a regular guy struggling to make it?

Jeremy Mayfield-great talent, and a very consistent driver. However is personality is like Kurt Busch's in late 2011/early 2012. Too bad unlike Busch it never got improved.

He's pretty much banned for life from NASCAR, just last month he was apparently busted again for a drug violation. So now he's probably just chillin on his farm or where-ever he lives in his drawers everyday drinkin moonshine...

All of his troubles have been self induced. He's clearly got a lot of issues but I think had he just sucked it up and gone through the drug rehab program, he'd probably be back racing by now. Instead he tried to sue his way back in, and lets just say he didn't make any friends in NASCAR by doing that. He's undoubtedly finished as a driver.

If he did complete his jail time and his rehab ,I think he would be welcome back . His age would be the big factor , he's already 44 .

I believe, and let's be clear, this is MY opinion --- yours may differ.
I think after Jeremy did the bump and run on DE at Pocono that he started believing his own press. He got the idea that with that move he became one of the big dogs in racing. He had the makings of a good driver, but let outside forces influence him into things that he thought he could control because he was "one of the big dogs."
We've all seen other pro athletes do the same thing, time and time again.

You have one heck of a memory Ms. TRL.

You really think so? I just can't see it on account of how personal it got between him and NASCAR. I also don't see what NASCAR would really have to gain by letting him back in, he's been a complete train wreck the past few years. With all the drugs, booze, grand larceny, etc. I would fully expect he's persona non grata, even if he did try and clean himself up.

I don't think it's personal with Nascar . They have a pretty clear cut route back into the sport . Mike Helton said "follow it and you get back in" . He would have his hands full finding an owner and a sponsor who would take a chance on him, but Nascar's position is clear.

don't forget his wife too. biggest influence. boy she thought she was tha cat's meow.

Dude is done. There is nothing he can do to be let back into NASCAR.

Whoever said it wasn't personal with NASCAR is dreaming.

You dont sue someone and not make it personal. That's like a criminal making friends with someone whose son they just killed. It doesn't work that way.

Anyway, I dont think the drivers want anything to do with such a volatile addict like Mayfield.

Like TRL said, this guy thought he walked on clouds. Not admitting he used and refusing to go to the program NASCAR has. Dumbass much?

Where do you see he was busted again last month? He lost his farm in bankruptcy Im pretty sure. FWIW, I always thought his wife was a real looker. She may be in on all of his trouble for all I know. I know she really lashed out at some fans when the poop hit the fan.

as an Earnhardt fan, that is definitely a moment that stands out. so the question I have is did that skillfully done bump and run take place before or after the "Hey Jeremy..." commercial?

gotta be honest... and this relates to all sports and life.... hate to see people waste talents.

She threw poop at a fan?

I couldn't resist because I'm too tired of the whole JM thing to even care anymore..

Jeremy was driving the 12 for Penske at Pocono in 1998. He drove for Evernham much later.

That bump and run really pissed off Earnhardt. I can only assume that Dale felt it was acceptacle at a place like Bristol or Martinsville and not a place like Pocono where the speeds are much higher. A lesser driver would have wrecked.
It don't matter much anymore Dale is gone and Mayfield has screwed himself. When he gets past his legal problems and does the Nascar rehab program he is still history, nobody will have anything to do with him, sponsors or teams.
Strictly my opinion.

apple don't fall very far from tree.

Mayfield is a druggie, has been for a long time. There were rumors going around even when he was driving for Kranefuss in the late 90s that he was doing something
